Pure dissapoitment from 4711
I am interested in 4711 Acqua Colonia series, I like their mandarine, thyme-rhubarb and citruc colognes. Since my favorite fruit is peach, I hoped, that this cologne would smell nice. But no, I was hugely dissapointed. All I hear is a bland, unripe peach with a small pinch of coriander, all heavily diluted in water. I like peaches, but not such unattractive kind, I like them ripe and juicy. I tested it many times and it was always the same. I definitely won't buy it.

Wet Laundry
Today I styled my hair in the bathroom of my mother-in-law - and my gaze fell on her guest bottles.

Of course No 5 edp - and Acqua Colonia White Peach & Coriander.
My hand reached for Chanel, but I thought of the husband who finds the EDP "crabby."
So Acqua.

I host a few fragrances from this line, so I sprayed carelessly.

Yes - delicious peach with .... uh - wet laundry?
I looked around the bright white room and couldn't spot any washed clothing.

Such a faux pas would never happen to my meticulous mother-in-law.
But I still have the peach in my nose, which suffers greatly from musty laundry.
Does the coriander lend this damp, moldy note?

I'm not feeling well - and I blame my queasiness on the enjoyment of the Hessian "Weckewerk" - a not exactly dietetic dish.

Pale around the nose, I reappear in the living room and curl up in a corner.
The husband sniffs the air and remarks: It smells like a wet dog here - not exactly pleasant!

Our little poodle is inspected, but it is not wet, rather dust-dry.
An innocent lamb.

I cautiously speak up that I might have applied "too much" of the Acqua - which of course isn't true, but I don't want to embarrass anyone.
My statement is silently accepted - but I remain on the sidelines.

Only in the car do I confess my mistake - and the husband stands by it:
A wet dog - that was no find.

Irresistible!
After the delightful test of the "Lime and Nutmeg" scent from the same brand, I was very curious about this variant of a fresh cologne.

Scent Development:
In the opening, the scent resembles a coconut fragrance, slightly almond-milky-sweet, before the white, juicy peach flesh comes through beautifully natural and fresh. In contrast to "Lime & Nutmeg," the spice note is hardly present here. The coriander is very subdued; I barely noticed it. Just a minimal hint of gentle spiciness beneath the peach.
Close to the skin, I initially perceive a very zesty orange, which quickly becomes softer and transforms into a peach note that exudes a subtle, creamy spice tone.

Longevity and Sillage:
I could perceive the scent well for about 5 hours, which is an acceptable duration for such a naturally appealing cologne. The sillage was discreet and close to the skin from the start.

Conclusion:
The scent captures the note of white peach flesh very accurately and naturally. It feels fresh and soft to me. A great summer fragrance or perfect for brightening the mood in between. Well made in terms of quality. Irresistible :)

The Beauty and The Beast
Of the EdCs from this line that I have tested so far, this is the most beautiful. I probably won't wear it, as I find it too feminine and, um, too young. But as a scent experience, it is indeed something very special and also surprising at this point. Not because I wouldn't expect beautiful fragrances from the house of 4711. I am a fan of "Tabac Original Cologne" and yes, I even like the classic "4711". What is more surprising is that this "Cologne" has absolutely no citrus (or otherwise zesty) freshness, but comes across very softly and round.

To the point: A peach-soft peach scent, completely authentic to my nose without synthetic irritation. Juicy and fruity, as if you were just fiddling with your wet hands in the cut fruit, yet fine, bright, and almost creamy. And then after 10 seconds, a fresh, still juicy coriander: True to its nature, not as innocently pleasing as the peach, but rather somewhere between spicy and slightly rotten (the old German name for coriander is not without reason "Wanzenkraut"). The coriander clearly plays second fiddle not only due to its somewhat delayed appearance but also in terms of intensity (this corresponds to the concept of the line: fruit with a spice garnish), yet it stands in a beautiful dialogue (in a way, then, equal to equal) with the softly sweet fruit.

After half an hour, the intensity is gone, after an hour, with my nose on the skin, hardly anything can be smelled, but should one complain about that? I generally like strong longevity, but when I buy an Eau de Cologne, I specifically want that brief scent flash with the certainty of going into a meeting two hours later scent-free (or applying a nice fragrance for the evening) without having to scrub off the midday scent for hours beforehand.

Successful Coriander Herb Freshness
Peach and coriander - an interesting combination! And not at all citrusy, like most colognes from this series.

Indeed, the peach is the first to announce itself on my skin, a young, almost slightly unripe, crisp, definitely not overripe-sweet peach. But soon, coriander takes over. This could generally be a problem....because I am cautious with coriander in both perfume and cooking. I don’t mean the ripe seeds - an important component in many curry blends and Chinese dishes, but also in German rye bread and gingerbread. This ingredient doesn’t cause me any issues in food or perfume. No, I mean the fresh coriander herb: when overused, it can quickly come off as soapy or even “buggy.” And yet, it is an indispensable and typical ingredient for some Asian (especially Thai and Vietnamese) dishes. I use the herb rather moderately and add it just 5 minutes before serving - I have never received complaints from coriander-sensitive friends eating with me. But with perfume, I remain cautious! And that’s exactly why I was so pleasantly surprised at how well this challenging scent note is executed here! It presents itself in its most pleasant form, distinct and herb-fresh but not soapy or buggy.

The longevity is also quite good for a cologne. Unlike, for example, “Lime & Nutmeg,” which is no longer perceptible on me after a few minutes, this perfume lasts 1-2 hours on my skin (which is already in the middle range for me!).

Anyone looking for a refreshing light summer scent that isn’t citrusy should definitely give this a try!

This is how I imagine the Giant Peach* smelt--not overripe/sirupy golden nectar, but delicately natural, delicious w/o shouting 'Eat me!'

Lingers surprisingly long near the skin, but the scent is flat and lacks juiciness. Ultimately rather uninteresting.

It smells more like cucumber than peach. Still summer-ish, not very complicated, and not very elegant.

Surprisingly beautiful. Wonderful coriander accompanied by an almost unsweet peach. Distant hints of Etro Musk, but that one does it better.

Spicy peach?
My grandma would have said: "Doesn't smell like him and doesn't smell like her."
True.
Quick, get rid of it. Everything :-)
No big deal.

Flat peach, doesn’t drip otherwise, my arm smells delicious, I could lick it off or smear it in my hair, oh it’s already faded away.

Citrusy - fresh - spicy, I don't notice the peach, but there is a certain creaminess. I surprisingly like it right away!
