Kalakasi Oud is one of those fragrances that reminds me how fortunate I am to own not just a bottle, but the entire collection. It’s truly one of a kind - an oud with a soul, not just a scent.

The 80‑year aged oud from the Kalaka Mountains gives it a depth that feels almost ancestral. The opening carries that unmistakable ASAQ signature: spicy, resinous, slightly smoky, with touches of fermented fruits and a ginger-like spark that lifts the darkness. It’s complex, layered and beautifully textured without ever feeling overwhelming.

On my skin, Kalakasi has medium projection and longevity, enough to create an aura but never loud or intrusive. And honestly, that suits the blend perfectly. This is not a show-off oud, it’s a refined, intimate one that evolves slowly and gracefully, revealing its incensey warmth and softened fruitiness over hours.

What keeps surprising me is how masterfully blended it is. Western luxury oud fragrances, even the expensive ones, simply don’t achieve this level of natural harmony. They often rely on loudness or synthetic “oud effects,” but Kalakasi doesn’t need theatrics. Its beauty comes from authenticity, heritage and the quiet confidence of real aged oud.

For me, Kalakasi Oud stands apart as a true masterpiece - ancient yet modern, opulent yet grounded. It’s a fragrance I treasure, not just for how it smells but for the history and craftsmanship it carries. Yes, it is priced at top of the line range but it's one of a kind and worth every cent.

First id have to say English is not my first language but i will do my best to describe it for people who are interested.

After smelling so many oud extraits including the most known ones worldwide such as the Night and the Moon by FM, Id have to say this is the best oud specifically Old aged Kalakasi oud which is very smooth and low barnyard scent, So far when it comes to niche brands id have to say this is the best oud fragrance I've came across specifically scent wise, Artisanal brands perhaps do have something similar but more complicated and less versatile , I'm speaking strictly about perfumes that contain oud and not oud accords.

Notes are incredibly well blended, there is no strong cheese or barnyard maybe in the first few seconds but goes away quickly and the incredibly smooth oud comes out with the fruity notes and powdery note from the orris perhaps complimenting the composition .

Wore this in summer with no issues because its not as loud as other oud perfumes making it more versatile although this is a mature CEO scent for sure i can still see all oud lovers rocking this without blinking. Zero staining on clothing and no skin irritations btw if you care about that.

Now the price, you definitely get the quality however 2280 dollars is too much even for an 80ml extrait de parfum, i got it at a 50% discount so half of that but i still see the price as an issue and a holding factor stopping people from buying this work of art specially who are abroad who cant test it and with no discovery sets available, i hope something can be done for this in the future.

The only issue i have with this perfume that stops me from giving it a higher score is the longevity and sillage, it creates a small scent bubble around you for like 4 hours perhaps with poor to moderate projection, it could be a batch issue and i got unlucky but I'm not willing to take that risk again and rebuying it after i finish mine, before buying if there is a tester use it on your skin and clothing and check how long it last then buy the same batch if it performed well enough for you.

If you want louder oud perfumes each having their own twist that's where The Night, The Moon, Promise by FM will shine if that's your style, but if you want the best kalakasi oud blend thats smooth and versatile look no further.

Stopped by ASQ in Doha, I thought I have tried all Oud types until I tried Kalakasi...Pure insanity people... this is different level perfumery. To contextualize, Kalakasi puts FM The Moon, The Night, and Ombre Nomade in the back seat. Very wearable and extremely sophisticated Oud blend, starts with incensey Oud, but magic starts after 15 minutes or so. My wallet is hurting but I am over the moon to have this in my collection.

P.S. Notes listed here are not precise, "Indian Oud" in mid and base is actually Kalakasi Oud--an 80 year aged Oud from Kalaka Mountain (finest Oud money can buy)
