definitely floral... too floral?
i only tested this fragrance on a blotter in-store with an employee hovering over me (so maybe i didnt get the full experience), but honestly it was no-doubt a floral overload- and i say this as somone who isnt for floral fragrances to begin with, so i'll admit my bias before i continue.
before smelling it, the notes that the aesop rep described sounded super stunning- very floral, very complex, mysterious.
but the actual scent?? at first, it was just an earthy floral. 100% pink and red florals. like standing under a blooming magnolia (that kind of sweet, delicate floral) in late april- you get some bark, crushed greenery, some dampness of the soil underfoot- but the florals are soft and somehow still overpower everything else. not a girly floral, more a dense and vegetal floral. i imagine its what you smell when youre picking flowers for a bouquet in a gorgeous garden at a castle in europe. you get that old stone grit, fresh florals, and earthiness from the dirt.
i did get some spice, but to me it was almost old and dusty... like opening a vintage apothecary cabinet and taking in a deep breath. the green notes did give it a very, very natural herbaceous smell- maybe too herbal for my liking. not green in a clean-fresh way, more a wild-fresh. like stems, roots, and bitter leaves.
this fragrance had a familiar vibe of my grandmothers perfumes in a vintage, delicate, soft way, which was just not for me cause i just do not want to smell like a grandma (love her tho). it did not have that "old" smell as in the classic aldehydic chanel no. 5 way, but it did carry the same softness.
overall aurner was an interesting fragrance. might be good for spring or early summer if you want to smell exactly like it does outdoors on a warm, yet crisp, spring morning where everything is a little damp and blooming. not an everyday wear- very mood/season/weather specific. but for me, it was just yucky.
