an experiment gone right
about me: 30s, introverted, nonbinary (perceived fem), working in medical.
source: 5mL bottle, direct
year: 2025 (5 months' rest)
price: $12 for 5mL
current season: early winter, morning
priming method: none
hydration level: moderate
application: moderate
masked: no
wet: a nice lovely green tea aroma.
dry: as above. no detectable mint or bergamot. throw is soft, less than arm's-length. my roommate came back early from a doctor's appointment and i apologized for "being stinky" (she's sensitive to perfumes and i would have not been testing in the living room had i known) but she said she didnt smell anything.
30 min in: green tea has receded and this is now largely a soft floral with slightly earthy nuances. nothing groundbreaking, but it's nice to be wearing this type of floral rather than the brightly cloying ultra-sweet florals ive been trying lately in hopes they would reveal some depth (spoiler: they didnt). sort of on the very edge of office-friendly but unlikely to offend.
1 hour in: not sure how im so certain of this, but i sniffed my wrist and im like yep, thats green patchouli. dry, vegetal, but not "dirty" or headshoppy. never did get the mint or bergamot but thats ok.
2 hours in: nearly down to a skin-scent. now a combination of patchouli and sandalwood, dry and white. though i wish each stage had lasted a bit longer, ive very much enjoyed the evolution of this scent. this could have been a main catalog scent for sure (arcanum experiments are done in small batches with no recorded recipe).
3.5 hours in: largely fading. maybe it's just because of all the recent fragrance tragedies and failures, but im not even mad. this was enjoyable every step of the way and didnt overstay its welcome. with proper hydration and proper priming (perhaps even use of the fixative), i could probably get 4-5 hours of solid wear-time out of this. i may also try layering with Green Tea Eau Parfumée. all in all, worth every bit of the $12 i paid for it.
9 hours in: surprisingly enough, theres some of this still sticking around at skin-scent levels.
verdict: keep
gender impression: unisex
office-friendly: debatable
crowd-pleaser: yes
full-size candidate: n/a
