Powerful spicy resinous floral - a near-perfect flanker
Epic 56 is a flanker of Epic Woman Eau de Parfum with the perfume concentration supposedly at 56% of the total mass of the juice. I say supposedly because it is very easy to increase the percentage of concentrate by adding very faint aromachemicals like hedione or increasing the amount of carrier oils like dipropylene glycol.
That being said, this is quite a powerful fragrance, and I would not be surprised if the actual concentration (discounting solvents/carrier oils) is at 30 or 40 percent. Epic 56 opens with a burst of oriental spices: cumin, pink pepper, cinnamon, along with a peppery geranium-rose. The rose is not as prominent as Epic Woman Eau de Parfum or other Zarokian creations like Mon nom est rouge, but it is definitely there. It is supported on base of smoky frankincense, gaiac, and oud (the oud is not very prominent here, only plays a supporting role), as well as an intensely resinous/balsamic amber note that adds some sweetness.
All in all, this is a near-perfect flanker to the original Epic Woman Eau de Parfum that adds intensity and masculinity to an already-classic fragrance. As other reviewers have pointed out, this fragrance need not only be enjoyed by women, despite the "Woman" moniker; this is probably the least feminine of the Amouage fragrances marketed specifically to women, and that's saying a lot given they make scents like Overture Woman. Epic 56 should be enjoyed by all: an oriental, resinous, floral masterpiece!
