Leathery rose and oud, with fruits
Sadly, Sequence continues the unexciting streak of Essences but from my perspective it is the best in the Dubai trio.

Sequence starts with a strong fruity lychee and saffron uppercut, continuing through a rose and (mild) oud phase. It then dries into suede + bitter orange - vaguely reminding me of Liquide which IMHO does it much better, also performance wise (hey, look... I am praising Bisch).

This Essence fades out as gently smoked agarwood + sandalwood combo with a bit of saffron that persists there in the background.

Longevity 10+ hours, with moderate projection.

Fruity, leathery & oud based fragrance
I think Sequence is the best you can get if you have to choose between those 3 last creations from Amouage house ( Remain, Line 618 and Sequence) part of The Essences collection.
The opening is fruity with a lot of saffron, the leather note is present all the way from the moment you put it on the skin untill it fades away. Then after a half an hour it goes on the darker side with oud, leather, saffron and some rose.
I can see the similarities with The Moon but Sequence is diffrent, has it's own identity, for me in a good way.
Good job from Julien Rasquinet, but Amouage it is not that Amouage we were used to in the Chong era. For some of us it's a good thing but for Amouage enthusiasts I think it's a step back!
Cheers!

The Moon Woman
If The Moon would be a man, Sequence would be the woman.
I recently got my hands on a decant of this because I really love what Julien did with The Moon, so I had good expectations from it, and it doesn't dissapoint.
Even though the notes are similar, Sequence is pretty different: the fruits are sweeter and the rose is jammier, making it lean more towards a feminine, almost girly scent, but still unisex.
In the opening the saffron stands out and has an overall sweet fruity aspect, but as it dries down the leather appears, making it mature.
This is again a different approach from what Amouage usually releases, for me it is a nice release.

Better take on Oud Maracuja / The Moon
In my opinion this sits right inbetween Oud Maracuja and The Moon. Oud Maracuja was too cloyingly sweet for me and The Moon was too funky with the oud. This does this DNA perfectly in my opinion.'

Enough fruity sweetness and cleaner oud with the brightness of raspberry similar to The Moon.

Easily the best out of the latest three releases from the Essences collection.
8.5/10.

A Fragrance Like a Drama in Three Acts
When I sprayed Sequence on my wrist for the first time today, I was honestly completely overwhelmed. The scent is incredibly strong. For the first two hours, it blasted continuously and effortlessly filled the entire room.

I suspect this enormous power comes from the sweet Somali frankincense, combined with very fruity, almost sticky berry notes. Oriental accents of saffron, osmanthus, and tonka bean join in.

The opening almost put me off at first. This sweet, dense cloud was simply extreme and briefly overwhelmed me. But patience pays off. After about two hours, the sweetness slowly recedes, revealing a beautiful, elegant rose.

In the drydown, Sequence completely transforms again, so much so that it’s hard to believe it’s the same fragrance at work. If you spray it fresh next to the drydown, you might almost think there are two different perfumes.

In the base, a distinct combination of leather and oud stands out for me. This reminds me less of The Moon and more of a somewhat tamed version of "Oud Cadenza | Maison Crivelli." Unfortunately, this part feels a bit too familiar for my taste and loses some of its intrigue.

For me, Sequence consists of three clearly defined phases, all of which are high-quality and interesting in their own way. I find the middle part the most beautiful; it’s just a shame it passes so quickly.

If you like sweet scents with leather, such as "London (Extrait de Parfum) | Widian," "Oud Cadenza | Maison Crivelli," or "Outlands | Amouage," you should definitely give Sequence a try. For now, I’ll stick with a sample, as I’m not entirely fond of the drydown or because it resembles some scents I’ve encountered before. Nevertheless, the fragrance has a great structure and overall feels very high-quality, albeit quirky and demanding in its progression.

Conclusion:
Sequence is a fragrance with character. It starts loud, sweet, and intense, then reveals a beautiful floral heart, and ends in a warm, leathery base. Well-made, complex, and definitely not for warm days. Those who love loud, opulent, and contrasting scents will find what they’re looking for here.

P.S.: Thanks to Patron for the generous sample!

Anyone who tells you this smells like The Moon needs their nose checked. It’s not even remotely close.

This perfume has a lot of similarities to Frederic Malle The Moon + both are made by the same perfumer. Will this be a more affordable Moon?

Another take on Ombre nomade/oud maracuja. Shame that Amouage released that, smells like cheap arabian fragrance. Disaster

More to the side of Cuir Infrarrouge and Oud Stallion than Moon or Oud Maracujá...quite expensive, less pleasant oud drydown than the others

What a party! Starts almost overwhelming with sweet incense and sugary berries. Then a hint of rose. After 2 hours, leather and oud.

Could be a Cuir Infrarouge flanker.
Less leather, but the fruits are more present.
Great scent, but not unique enough.

Oh dear. What should I say?
I only smell a weaker Meydan with raspberry syrup. Weak Amouage!

Phew, tough one...
Stone me - but I think Ombre Nomade has a super sweet designer raspberry. Unfortunately, it lacks projection for me too...

Anxious rose dives headfirst into a bed of leather and oud, spilling lychee and raspberry everywhere. Already familiar.
