Delightfully rugged
The scent of Irisch Moos is what inspired Irish Spring soap, or so the story goes. This 90s version opens harsh, fresh, very herbal, oakmossy, musky, and pretty much stays that way for the duration. The shaving cream vibe is powerful. Save for some soapiness later on, it's mostly linear, but we shouldn't expect too much complexity from a drugstore after shave designed in the 1960s. I hear the current version tones down the moss and amps up the shaving cream even more, which, depending on your tastes, might be a good trade off.

It projects very well for the first hour and longevity is 5 hours, good even by EDC standards. I hear the EDT concentration is beast mode - when the juice runs out of this bottle I might replace it with that.

Masculinity Level: We're at an Arnold-in-Predator level of ruggedness.

Aftershave journey part 12 - Moss classics for planed skin
I have to admit that besides niche fragrances & some designers (in the future towards Eau Sauvage & co) I find some (general) classics appealing, in my opinion I want to cover many categories in my diverse collection and the range of classics (often very affordable) is one of them.

I have Sir Irish Moss both as an EDT (you can read the review here, even if it comes to a comparison) and in this case as an aftershave.

And yes, it may not be too modern to wear such an after shave, and yes, the "panty-dropper seekers" can say goodbye here "superficially" - I still wonder how you can think how you can seduce a lady based on a fragrance or even scare off ladies, as I was once told ... but I'll leave that for now or maybe one or the other lady might comment on her opinion. I assume that a fragrance does not play the first role, perhaps it can arouse curiosity - but a fragrance is also good if it emphasizes a character or a moment and what I believe even more, if you feel comfortable with a fragrance, then you carry this rather to the outside.
But let's get back to the topic... Sir Irish Moss After Shave goes in the category of classics as well as my aftershave faction.

When applying, I have a massaging feeling on the skin, at the same time "naturally refreshing in the sense of a nature trip". Very compatible & harmonious whether I use my Tabac shaving soap or my Cella shaving soap (with a lovely marzipan scent, by the way).

Compared to the EDT, I have the feeling that the fragrance is a little darker and more intense, i.e. more woody and mossy, and I also notice that the fragrance is less sweet overall, at least on my (planed, razor-shaved) skin, which I think is sometimes the biggest noticeable difference.
I also perceive woody flowers and soapy branches, with a slightly rustic powdery note in the background.

And yes, some would now say Team AS or EDT, I would first use the aftershave when shaving in the morning (in the forest, of course) and then the eau de toilette for a forest excursion.

After the Floid, this was my next aftershave trip in a very short space of time.
Feel free to comment on which shaving lotions I absolutely have to test for this review series.
And which shaving soaps I should definitely use!

Finally, I don't know yet whether I'll write a review next week, as I have my written final exams including overnight stays in a hotel and you never know how you'll be after the exams... Statements will probably be possible.

Thank you very much for reading!
P.S: Have a great time shaving, planing and/or enjoying yourself in general.

The little Hobbit
I'm sure it smells exactly like that in the Shire
Green, fresh, mossy, somehow a bit droll after grandpa's pillow but also very masculine in an experienced way. Not a testosterone sailor with broad arms, but an experienced elderly gentleman who is so fast nothing from the peace brings.

Pleasant on the skin, the price is the hammer and the fragrance is good and nostalgic. In my opinion even more original than Pitralon, who went quite well with the time.

Lasts about 1-2 hours (if used as an after shave only) and smells intensely for the first 20 minutes, then relaxes for the nose
What more could you ask for? Practical and good.

Immortal green freshness kick
Oh yes, the dog and the meadows! I have probably seen this advertisement the most of all fragrance advertisements of my childhood. Anyway, she's the one I remember best. At some point, I firmly believed, I would also be such a pithy guy with a jeep, who walks through the woods with his dog. It came differently. I don't come to the forest very often, somehow I didn't become so pithy (which makes me really happy) and the faithful dog is represented by a complicated tomcat. What has remained is SIR Irish Moss, which is one of my favourite aftershaves. It doesn't reach the sovereign old school style of Tabac Original, but in terms of herbal freshness it beats the other vintage shaving waters by far.

Unlike other After Shaves, the top note comes across well here - green, cool, super refreshing. Also in terms of durability, it weighs noticeably more than the zero-eight-fifteen shaving water. I think Mäurer & Wirtz inherited 4711 from Mäurer & Wirtz, and the Mülhens DNA seems to have a positive effect on Sillage and shelf life. Always happy! Also without Wald, Waldi & all-wheel drive.

The classic among the classics - the shower gel is missing!
Dark fir woods, a fine mist covering the moss-covered ground.
Two Irishmen with long beards chop down a tree with their axes in the background.
This is how you can characterize the aftershave of SIR Irish Moss.

As a 10-year-old I was given my first aftershave as a gift.
It was Ice Dive by Adidas - admittedly - not a particular revelation.
Motivated by this, I invested my pocket money in more aftershaves.
At some point, I noticed the green, plain packaging with the gold lettering in the drugstore and bought the good bottle.

When I applied it at home for the first time and proudly demonstrated it to my mother, she said that it made me smell like a pensioner.
A fragrance? For pensioners?
Well, 4711 has to contend with the same image - but for the opposite sex.

Why did my mother think of a pensioner fragrance here? A simple solution:
Fragrances that have been around for generations - this includes Hattric, Pitralon and 4711 - are often associated with older people who have been wearing the scent for a long time, perhaps since their youth.

There are many other products on the market:
A deodorant spray and a deodorant atomizer are also available, as is the eau de toilette.
I would advise against the eau de toilette - the scent can become a bit intrusive.
I had to accept a bitter disappointment about 8 years ago - my beloved shower gel, no bargain at around €10, disappeared from the market.
Production was discontinued.
I wish that Mäurer&Wirtz would bring the shower gel back onto the market - I would then stock up on 100 bottles right away.

Unimpressed by my mother's statement, I bought the aftershave again and again.
I looked forward to every new bottle because the fragrance is simply unbeatable.
Masculinity, style and understatement - these are the keywords that come to mind for Irish Moss.
