Once again the house of Annayake impresses me...
... it seems their standards are consistantly higher than those of their bigger competitors Kenzo and Miyake.

This is a great oriental fragrance with the effect of lavender, tobacco and tonka bean combining to form an excellent, almost suede-like, slightly dusty and boozy mood. This could easily be mistaken for a fall/winter release from a bigger brand house like Guerlain for instance. A little smokiness and a touch of bitterness.

If you enjoy scents like CH Men Privé, Bvlgari Black and similar slightly boozy scents, this could be your next gem. Moderate projection and pretty good longevity.

Sweet-Spicy Lavender Scent
I have known Tomo by name for what feels like an eternity. While browsing, I often noticed the beautiful slender and tall bottle with this lovely name. Since I have known it, it has been on my list to test. I have owned it since last autumn. I grabbed it for under 50 euros for 100ml and I do not regret it at all. Since I generally enjoy scents with a sweet spiciness, I couldn't pass this one up.
I am not the biggest lavender fan, but when it harmonizes with the other fragrance notes, it can really become a wonderful creation. Just like this one. The concept of this scent is really very likable. The lavender is surrounded by a lovely sweet spiciness that is truly not overwhelming and is just right. Citrus fruits also provide a wonderful freshness and make this scent much fresher. Woody hints also come to the fore, but they are clearly in the background, as the lavender with this beautiful sweet spiciness is clearly in the foreground. The scent does not change significantly over time as many others do. This is not meant negatively, as I do not necessarily need that. The quality of this scent is also really high-end. Despite the sweetness, it feels genuinely elegant, stylish, and very likable. The name Tomo (friend) is not entirely out of place here, as it radiates a lot of likability that will surely appeal to many people who smell Tomo.
The sillage is also quite positive. In the first few hours, it is really good but not "too much." After a few hours, the sillage does fade, yet it is not gone, and a hint of the scent often comes through.
The longevity is also impressive. I estimate it to be around 8 hours, which is quite decent.
As for the season, it is an all-rounder. It is medium in weight, leaning between heavy and light. It really shines in autumn, but it could also be worn in winter, spring, and on mild summer days. In terms of gender, I believe it leans neither way. It is neither masculine nor feminine but a neutral, wonderful companion.
For me, it is a thoroughly successful scent that is also not too expensive.

My Compliment Magnet
First of all:
I cannot confirm the rumor that Douglas holds the exclusive sales rights in Germany. I purchased the fragrance online in the spring of this year for about €40, and it is indeed original.

Scent:
The opening of Tomo reminds me of something medicinal, but that quickly fades away. There is also a fresh-citrusy note noticeable at the beginning. The heart note then reveals itself as spicy and woody, before the fragrance transitions to its enchanting base composed of musk.
This fragrance has brought me more compliments from the opposite sex than any other in my collection. Apparently, the scent harmonizes well with my character and also my skin.

Longevity & Sillage:
On me, Tomo lasts a very long time; I can perceive it on myself for up to 16 hours.
The projection is strong in the first 2-3 hours, then it diminishes a bit, but it takes the same amount of time again before the fragrance becomes completely skin-close.

Versatility:
In my opinion, Tomo is a versatile fragrance that can be worn year-round except on days with temperatures above 25 degrees. It is best suited for the colder months in autumn and winter due to its warmth and spiciness.

Strength, Warmth, Security
There is no scent that I love more on the right man than Tomo. It perfectly reflects the qualities that I appreciate in this man. This man is masculine, strong (both physically and character-wise), and gives me an unprecedented feeling of warmth and security.

The fragrance perfectly underscores these qualities. Masculine through the spicy-woody notes and cozy-warm through lavender and musk, without coming off as too soft; it remains masculine.

In my opinion, the scent does not undergo much development, which I don’t find problematic. At first, it is briefly citrus-fresh, but this fades very quickly, and then it remains spicy-woody and warm. It contains no sharp or other notes that disturb me. It is wonderfully harmonious, pleasant, and rounded. One could say that it radiates a strong calmness, like a rock in the surf. Yet it is by no means boring, but rather very attractive and positively exciting.

The longevity is good, the sillage is rather close to the body, which may not be so bad... ;)

Tomo is my friend
As a lavender lover, I often sneak around men's fragrances that list lavender as an ingredient. Lavender is a plant I grew up with. The rock garden of my parents made this possible.

The most beautiful lavender scent I have found so far is Gris Clair by Serge Lutens. However, it has a small flaw. No, certainly not the initially quite piercing note or the strong sillage. No, it's just that I am overwhelmed by the lavender. Sprayed on the pillow, on nights that steal your sleep, it is a miracle healer.

I also like to search for scents that are not heavily advertised or are sitting at the bottom of the shelf. And so my path led me to Tomo. He is also my friend, I realized.

He also has lavender as an ingredient, just not as intrusive and prominent. The longevity is decent, around 4-5 hours on the skin. I haven't had the opportunity to test it on clothing yet. Sillage is also average. I give the scent 90%. I wore it myself yesterday and find it very pleasant to wear during cooler summer days, both day and night. No note stands out too strongly to be off-putting. Since I don't have Le Male by JPG in mind, I can't make a comparison.

I would recommend the scent for men from their mid-20s onward, with no upper limit for me.

Overall, a successful fragrance from a brand I was previously unfamiliar with. I love Tomo!!!

PS: Testing on clothing is very positive. Longevity up to 12 hours. The base holds and holds. Even on the skin, it really has long-lasting durability. Sprayed on in the evening, I can still smell the base in the morning! I am truly impressed. Simply perfect.

A fresh-sweet symbiosis of light citrus & herbaceous lavender-sage flows into a warm tonka-tobacco-wood cream. Childhood memories.

I remembered it quite differently, much less sweet and synthetic. If tested blind, I would have almost guessed Le Mâle too. +

Pleasant, warm-spicy scent with a fresh start, wood, a few flowers & lots of benzoin. Reminds me a bit of an oriental Le Male.

In real life, my friend works as a samurai in a chemical factory, and unfortunately, he smells like it too. Replaceable, affordable, and with no connection to the name.

A very underrated scent. Lightly citrusy and then spicy-woody. Slightly oriental. The price-performance ratio is really good here.

Very nice scent that brings Le Male vibes. But it feels much more mature to me. Compliments guaranteed.
