From London
A few days ago, I returned from London. There, I treated myself to Woody Black at Arabian Oud, a great store with absolute rarities.
I liked WB extraordinarily well. It is a soft rose-oud-saffron representative that later shifts into possible incense-garden carnation-cedarwood territories. However, this explosive top note is followed by a large decrescendo. The turbulent yet soft, subtly creamy saffron-rose-oud dominance fades in favor of a darker, rougher, duller, and somewhat fruity note. Broadly speaking, I feel a bit reminded of Dark Saphir by Agonist and Oud by Gucci. The scent becomes more subdued than shrill, but it still retains a certain elasticity. The fragrance reminds me of a taut rubber band that gradually loses tension and slackens. However, WB remains consistently tempting. This development occurs relatively quickly, a fanfare at the start, followed by a downward spiral into a broad plane that radiates a darker timbre. Here, it is likely that a soft blend of ingredients from incense, cedarwood, and garden carnation comes into play, strongly supported by the echo of a fundamentally classic saffron-rose-oud scent.
In the end, the fragrance consumes itself into a kind of rosemary. Only the previously unknown skeleton of WB remains.
Definitely a companion for standing out, not a subtle office scent. But I believe that in the fragrance direction spelled out here, there should be no middle ground, but rather it should be loud and unabashed.
Subtlety is weakness.
