A truly sensational summer fragrance that is a bit unusual....
I am surprised that no one has dared to tackle this gem yet. I really like the Mauboussins anyway and treated myself to this one blindly. I had a rough idea of what to expect, and I was anything but disappointed. It is a bit unusual, as it is absolutely not mainstream, which I inherently love. Scents that you can sniff out on every street corner bore me... although there are certainly beautiful mainstream fragrances, no question.
This Mauboussin comes in softly, with velvety paws, a hint of floral but not sweet or overly girly... rather confident and charismatic. The mix of bright citrusy mandarins and oranges at the beginning is very pleasing to my nose; it practically craves more of this amazing stuff ;-) I could swear there is also a hint of rosemary hidden in the opening... it somewhat reminds me of the classic Roberto Cavalli in the tall slender obelisk bottle. The longer it sits, the more intense the fragrance becomes, and I particularly enjoy bold, slightly herbal scents in summer... it gains more character and depth, becoming more self-assured. I imagine a tough business lady in a chic black Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit, who knows what she wants and radiates that. I believe the ingredient list above is incomplete, as I suspect there is also a hint of elemi resin in it, which adds a certain heavy bitterness, but is not intrusive, rather extremely elegantly balanced. Patchouli is definitely present in the wonderful base note, along with the "light woods." This fragrance is also an absolute mood lifter, as it radiates strength and self-confidence and, of course, summer with lots of glorious sunshine..... This scent is certainly not for little girls in innocent white blouses looking for something sweet and playful, quite the opposite. I am leaning far out the window now and would say that it would even unfold very well on a man. This Mauboussin is a true insider tip that you can also acquire for a small amount of money.
