MY fragrance and me
I like fragrance oils. They lack the disturbing initial alcohol scent.
You can directly perceive the fragrance notes.
With this scent, every second you can perceive it is precious because it is dreamy! I didn't have to wait for any development to say that this is a perfume that was made for me! Wow!
As Apicius already writes, oud is the foundation. But without any sharpness. Without medicinal harshness. A feminine agarwood---soft and round---transforms into an incredibly feminine (for me, only imaginable on a woman!) fragrance treasure!
It is “oudy”-floral, “oudy”-fruity, “oudy”-one of a kind!! This is how I want to perceive myself, this is how I want to be perceived by others. If someone doesn't like this scent on me, they won't get along with me in my pure form either. I don't feel disguised by Fairouz. Fairouz reflects me. This scent smells like how I feel. Why did I only discover it for myself today?!? A heartfelt thank you to the kindest Maharinih in the world!, O))

Classic and Beautiful
Fairouz is a perfume oil, a blend of various elements, as seen in the pyramid above. However, it is precisely that unlisted ingredient which defines the character of this fragrance - Oud!

This perfume is a good example of traditional Arabic perfumery. From everything I know so far, I would say it is a very classic scent that likely stands right in the middle of this spectrum. Oud is dominant, no question about it. The opening is slightly floral for a short time and even seems a bit fruity, but pleasantly so. The rose is well integrated and does not dominate at all. The other base ingredients may tame the Oud a bit, but they do not change the direction.

As a man, I would have found it difficult to take the plunge on a blind buy with this pyramid. However, I can reassure you. Fairouz is by no means a floral-opulent monster; the floral notes are more subdued than in some Montale Ouds. Compared to the more affordable Ouds or Oud blends I have encountered, Fairouz truly satisfies. Nothing is harsh here; I find this Oud blend relatively mild. The bitter notes are held back; they are present but acceptable for wearers of both genders. A bit of musk is also worth mentioning. It seems to be responsible for a bright tone in the base note. It makes its presence known after about an hour and balances the Oud and woods well. The amber is of the smoky variety and subtly comes into play after about 2 hours.

In my opinion, the quality pushes into the realm of Montale Ouds, but in style, it is a bit different. Fairouz does not try to be as overtly Arabic as the perfumes of this Frenchman. Everything feels somehow more casual and simpler. Overwrought 1001-Night opulence is not Fairouz's thing. Due to the relative restraint in the additional notes, especially the floral ones, this scent - although not a pure Oud - feels quite puristic and even somewhat fresh. In the long run, this style could prove to be wearable. This is especially true for those fragrance enthusiasts who can imagine using an Arabic perfume with Oud as an everyday scent - many will certainly not be in our latitudes.

I find it difficult to evaluate the price of Fairouz. I researched a price of $35 for 3 ml, which is about €25. The yield of this oil may be somewhat higher than that of regular Eau de Toilette sprays, but certainly not by a factor of 10 or 20. Thus, Fairouz would not be cheap despite its low purchase price. However, if one has a large perfume collection, like many users of Parfumo, and changes scents daily, one will not be able to use up many of the 100 ml bottles anyway. Buying a 100 ml spray and only using 20 ml of it during the lifespan of the perfume is also expensive. Can one see it that way, or am I just rationalizing?

I received the very generous and valuable sample from Maharanih, for which I would like to express my heartfelt thanks.
