SPOILER: This perfume does not smell like banana!
I thought I'd keep the most important points brief and to the point. ;P
Banana Republic's Republic of Men I actually like quite a lot. It is a perfume that smells balsamic and soft to me, sometimes it reminds me of my beloved La Nuit de L'Homme. But it actually smells more like an extremely smooth, gentle version of Shelter Island (Bond No. 9).
Floral, soft, balsamic, silky. Someone compared this fragrance elsewhere to Allure Homme Edition Blanche by Chanel, and yes, they both have that smooth quality in a way.
But it is not, - or let's say hardly citrusy, I think the rosemary somewhat gives that impression.
In any case, a solid, floral, smooth men's fragrance, ideal if you’re a man who likes that sort of thing. Maybe not the next signature scent, but definitely something I will enjoy wearing from time to time. Whether my stock will ever go beyond the 10ml travel spray, I don't know, but I believe it would need to prove itself a bit more for that.
However, it is definitely a scent that you can't stand out unpleasantly with, and it feels like quite solid craftsmanship to me. So someone knew what they wanted ;)
