Starts great, but then becomes very oud and musky
When I first applied the Oud Cologne, I was totally on fire and very enthusiastic. Unfortunately, this first impression could not be maintained as the fragrance progressed - what a shame! The longevity on my skin is really strong at more than 12 hours and the sillage is also impressive.
The top note starts fresh, citrusy, fruity but also creamy with aromas of bergamot, orange, lemon zest, grapefruit and some ginger, nutmeg, allspice and pepper. This makes me think of Solero ice cream for a while. The heart note then goes in a very woody-resinous direction. I recognize pine needles, cedarwood and guaiac wood. Then it smells a little floral like rose water, gardenia and rose geranium. The base then shifts into a very animalic direction. Deer musk and oud dominate here. It also has a balsamic scent of benzoin and ambergris.
In the end, Oud Cologne took me in a direction that is not necessarily my world - simply typical of Artisan fragrances. Nevertheless, I would like to thank Nick for the bottling.
