Vivid unsweet rose
Zemfira starts with a quick blast of peppery bergamot, then melts into a beautiful green citrusy rose and subtle sandalwood. At times I could detect a slightly unpleasant note that I couldn't quite place, something metallic or slightly rotten. I also felt the fragrance was a little irritating on my skin, which has not happened with any of the other Bortnikoff fragrances I've tried. Other than that, Zemfira would be easy to wear. I think I prefer Triad.

Dimitry roses
As a very fan and connoisseur of the Bortnikoff collection, I have to say that this perfume is one of the most out of its predominant line.
It smells mostly of roses, with a twist.
It is not an elegant rose, but something more pointed and lively. I guess that is what the pink pepper gives, as such I can't say that I smell it, but it will be there.
A bergamot surely collaborates with that prominent smell although I don't smell like such either, but gives that citrus sparkle to the rose.
What I do recognize as a Bortnikoff signature is that background oud that remains after a while.
It's not a standout but it does give it a nice, softer bottom than the opening.
At times I get the feeling that this has some natural musk in it, and knowing Dimitry, it may be undeclared but it does.

As far as performance is concerned, it is not the highlight of its collection, but it is correct speaking of natural extracts, maybe 5-7 hours on cruel male skin it does last, and projects well 2-3 hours maybe more than one meter

Light and bright very natural rose
I love roses. I love them bright and I love them dark, airy and heavy, red and green, sweet and sour, powdery and crystal clear, fresh and dried ones. I love all of them!

Zemfira is a beautiful somehow light and bright (but with good performance) Rose Oud which you can wear easily year around. Fresh natural smelling roses are stars with mild oud in the background. Unlike the first collections, this 4th collection is floriental and has no animal ingredients except ambergris in it. Other parfums in this collection are Sir Winston and Symphonie de Néroli.

This is a well-made rose perfume with citrus and honey shades in the base. It’s not sweet anyway or in any kind of way “jammy” like some people like to say which I think is an expression for very sweet and mellow rose mostly with Vanilla. I can’t describe well enough that intoxicating feeling which I get from this from the evocative opening until the dry down but it’s unique. I think it’s somewhat tart undertone which is one of the charasteristics of Vietnamese Oud. I have many rose perfumes and have tried a lot of them, this is one of a kind. If you like powerful and extremely persistent rose perfumes with a very light honey-oriental sillage, I think you will love this one.

This is very easy level entry to Ouds but it’s noticeable though.

Top notes: Bergamot and Pink pepper

Middle notes: Rose de Mai, Hybrid Tea rose and Atlas cedar

Base notes: Bengal sandalwood and Vietnamese Oud

Perfection
I bought the Bortnikoff discovery set very early on in my sniffing journey about two years ago. I remember at the time being sort of frustrated, feeling as though all 15 of the samples smelled too similar to each other and too foreign to appreciate. I assumed at the time this was due to me having basically no experience with anything containing predominately natural ingredients and figured if I kept the empty bottles than in time I'd be able to appreciate the faint whispers left in them as my nose developed. (I was correct, still smell them on occasion)

I purchased the set because I wanted to experience authentic agarwood. One by one, I spritzed the samples onto my skin, and one by one the feeling of frustration grew as I felt I had no idea what I was smelling. That would've been fine, if I actually liked any of them. Everything just seemed too dark or too novel to actually inspire me to want to wear them. Zemfira was the second one I tested. I remember being impressed by the rose in it. I'd smelled many rose accords, but this was my first time smelling something with a large amount of real rose oil. While it's very pleasant, I'm a man and I can't go around smelling like a bouqet of roses, so I thought.

As I tested many of the others over the next week or so, not feeling much of anything from them, I pried the cap off the Zemfira bottle and poured what was left, maybe 1.5ml or so, down my arm and laid down, just for the hell of it. It opens with a very bright, citric, slightly peppery blast of rose. Sharp, oddly fruity, almost overwhelming rose. As the hours went by, I kept going back to see if I could finally detect this "oud" stuff. Around the 3-4 hour mark, nothing is left of the rose. There's a strange, smokey smell lingering. "That must be it" I thought. Dmitri describes the character of the oud in this as "smouldering". As the hours further pass, this smouldering, smokiness takes on a fermented accord. The smell continues to linger on my skin for 18+ hours.

I wound up buying a 15ml decant on fragnanimous which I only have a couple sprays left of. If I had any wits about me, I would've bought the full bottle of it he was selling for $260. I'm pretty anxious about new versions of this not smelling exactly like what I've become accustomed to, as this has really become one of my top 3 favorites I've encountered. I will say though, it's still sort of awkward when someone in public asks me if I'm wearing "perfume", as in, women's fragrance. Oh well!!!

Cheers!

Zemfira
With Zemfira, one might think that Dmitry is treading the well-worn paths of rose ouds. At least for me, there hasn't been much new to discover in this area over the past few years. And so I eventually got the feeling that, in essence, everyone will find (and perhaps should find) such a scent among their favorite brands.

Zemfira opens with a citrus-clear, radiant Ispahan rose. Innocent and kissed by the morning dew. Only upon closer inspection near the skin do the darker facets of the ouds become apparent, resonating warmly alongside the sandalwood, which adds a touch of smokiness to structure the rose.

Due to this very clear, tidy, and subtle nature, Zemfira is indeed unisex and fits just as well into the soon-to-be-felt autumn. Especially when, as it develops, the woody-smoky notes take more space and play at eye level with the rose, gently fading into a soft woodiness in the drydown.

I can recommend Zemfira to fans of rose fragrances who appreciate naturalness and, above all, a very high wearing comfort - and Dmitry's work. :)

PS: Zemfira is a Persian female name, as Dmitry told me. The fragrance is an ode. With accords from 1001 nights. :)

It reminds me of Amber Aoud by Roja, on steroids! Beautiful sharp May Rose anchored by Oud, linear, much more intense but also less complex.

The woods are soft and shimmering, real smooth. And oh yeah, there is an out-of-this-world amount of rose Rose ROSE. Too much for me

The opening is bright and fresh, a nice bergamot with a watery rose. Sadly, the bergamot disappears after a while and we get creamy woods.

Bright, luminous, pretty, innocent, easy, the opposite to Triad Extrait de Parfum which is animalic, naughty, challenging.

Direct competitor to Triad. Triad is better. The pink pepper is too heavy handed. Otherwise, would have been great.

Rose with a hint of oud, the umpteenth. No major stink, but the spark just isn't there anymore.

Fresh young rose at the center
Gets a milky-creamy side from sandalwood
Monotonous without a twist or counterpoint
Bortn. could be more complex

A nearly one-dimensional rose scent, which I don't really like. Late oud notes in the background don't do anything for the rose either. Not for me.
