Aromatic Aquatic Men's Cologne
The good news is that Brecourt EAU LIBRE is a perfectly respectable, mid-range quality aromatic-aquatic cologne. The bad news is that Brecourt EAU LIBRE is a perfectly respectable, mid-range quality aromatic-aquatic cologne. While wearing this creation, I have been reminded of such fragrances as Bond no 9 I LOVE NEW YORK FOR HIM and Bennetton BLV. Basically this is a standard made-for-men's fragrance with a bit more of an aromatic than aquatic demeanor, but it projects as much as most any men's aquatic cologne.

For what this is, it is pretty good. But it is what it is, and it's not what it's not. This could easily be a mainstream designer launch--and perhaps it is, under some alias. I am beginning to see that Brecourt has created a series of affordable fragrances in attractive black bottles which map out compositionally over already well-charted territory. They do use fairly good ingredients (not great), with the consequence that even someone like me who generally eschews aquatic frags can manage to wear EAU LIBRE comfortably, should I so desire.

I'm not personally on the hunt for an aromatic-aquatic men's cologne, but this one will certainly do for the usual suspects. It would probably make a fine gift for some guy who's not totally obsessed with perfume. (-;

Not bad... clear fresh water with mint!
I do like this one. It's sporty and fresh, not too serious. Like someone who smells "clean". I actually really like the mint note here. Mint, clean white musk, a little geranium & juniper berry, to keep it "fresh", with a little spicy pepper in the background. It's not bad, and I think it would be good for hot weather, and occasions when you want to smell "clean".

This is the second fragrance I've tried from Brécourt, and it is still not impressing me so much. If this cost lower than the price of a full bottle, I would buy it. But to be honest, for this fresh, summer vibe, I would stick with an old friend of mine: Live Jazz by Yves Saint-Laurent.

yes i like
The opening is a lot like many fresh yet woodsy scents created for men. The bergemont, geranium, and rosemary play beautifully while the suprisingly tame jasmin stands to the side. Jasmin usually takes center stage but this jasmin sits on the sidelines like that friend you didnt want to invite to your wedding because she is usually obnoxious, but she is so well behaved it shocks me! Low sillage and lasts 5-7hrs.
It is a circular fragrance that keeps going around in circles. Well blended but will not be added to my collection for personal prefrence reasons only and nothing to do with the quality.

Well blended!

Overpriced Shower Gel Water
Until now, I assumed that only drugstore or mainstream brands would produce such olfactory trivialities, but apparently, they do not have a monopoly on it. What I'm talking about are these really dull, synthetic cheap scents that remind one of shower gel.

In principle, it's not a crime if the price is right or if the shower gel costs one euro. Then you can overlook one or two eyes or nostrils, that's absolutely fine. However, as a mainstream brand with aspirations, it's quite audacious - but apparently, there are enough buyers who couldn't care less and are happy to have their money taken from them. As long as a well-known name is on the bottle and if it costs something, it must be worth it. And it smells so nice and clean. So far, so frustrating.

But with a brand like Brecourt, which I see more in the niche segment, this is, in my opinion, close to fraud. The expectation from the customer should be significantly higher, and one should expect fine fragrances with quality. Unfortunately, Eau Libre smells as described above, like an aquatic mishmash of slightly bitter synthetic materials, somewhat spicy and minimally cedarwood-like, but totally arbitrary and interchangeable.

As already mentioned: acceptable for one euro as a shower gel, but at 79 € for 50 ml, it's almost a declaration of war against the consumer.

Eau Libre
Hmm... I am quite disappointed with Eau Libre, as this scent smells good, but still lacks any recognizability for me as a woman who has only recently tried men's fragrances! There are many men’s perfumes that smell similar. This includes shower gels for men... a bit fresh, then a bit spicy, and woody, with a touch of aftershave.

Upon application, Eau Libre starts off fresh, with Hedione, fresh mint, citrus notes, and herbs like rosemary and lavender forming the opening, which are quickly caught up by black pepper, jasmine moderately herbaceous musky notes, sandalwood, and cedar, and it doesn't take long. Additionally, the cedar here shows its famous pencil scent, which I don't particularly like.
Otherwise, I can't recognize any floral or fruity notes as described above, where have they gone?
I’m sorry to have to write this, but for me personally, Eau Libre has an average character... It's just an average scent. Although it’s not bad! It has a classically fresh-spicy, partly woody bouquet that I think would suit both men and women! However, I find the price-performance ratio somewhat unjustified! The longevity also leaves much to be desired for me! But everyone has different tastes and interpretations of this perfume.

Murky blue mixed with Dove body lotion and aftershave. The base is sweet-creamy and dull-sandy.

Ozone-like fougère. Powdery-sweet-floral, subtly shaving cream-like, slightly shower gel-like, and dry-sandy. But strangely unremarkable.

At first, it reminds me a lot of bathroom cleaner, but the scent eventually develops into an average-smelling aquatic with a slight sweetness.

I don't wear/like aquatics! I only like them if they trigger a fantasy journey. This one does nothing, standard SWEET mainstream AQUATIC.

Fruity-green (fig? mhh not in there) quite moderate, young aquatic that I think is unisex. I find it better than it’s rated here.

Aquatic fresh, more of an old-school masculine scent. But nice. And yes, it has that shower gel association. Still, not a bad fragrance.

THE catastrophe of Brecourt, without a doubt. Sweet-synthetic scent, very low longevity and sillage. Bottom drawer of drugstores!!!
