Satisfying Sweet Woody Oriental
Brecourt HARAM is probably my favorite perfume from this house--of the ones I've tested so far. It is a substantial, wintertime composition with both wood and sweetness mingling with spices and other rich components. I would say that HARAM compares favorably with some of the thicker oriental elixirs I've sniffed from far more expensive niche brands, so if you're looking for a solid oriental, this one is definitely a bargain!

I agree with some other reviewers that HARAM is not very original, but the important point is that it smells good and holds up well from start to finish. There is something both yummy and comforting about this perfume, and I definitely recommend it for testing by anyone who likes their oriental perfumes on the denser side. This one is rather sweet, so I do not know whether the guys would like it, but it is similar in style to By Kilian BACK IN BLACK, if that helps any.

A lot of notes are packed into this perfume, but they are blended together so that the end result just smells like an above average sweetish woody oriental. I am unable to disarticulate the various components as isolable notes.

Many reviewers at another site--and apparently here as well--have claimed that HARAM smells similar to Hermès Hermessence AMBRE NARGUILE. I respectfully disagree. To me, this smells closer to something by Linari.

A comfy gourmand
A spicy-gourmand scent, opens with a burst of orange and cinnamon, then reveals a warm heart of white chocolate adorned with the rich smell of marzipan.
A fragrance which is slightly reminiscent of the good parts of Guerlain's "Iris Ganache" with its lovely, gourmand opening chords, but Haram remains rather pale on my skin. It features marzipan and white chocolate, and even after one hour, that's the overall impression you're left with. Pleasant, with a comfy gourmand feel, but devoid of originality.

Good spicy fragrance
So delicious ! a very sweet and spicy perfume, and I honestly get the honey, vanilla.
I don't really get the "dates" but I'm sure it's what give that very sweet side, the honey and vanilla give a heavy and warmness to it.
It's a very strong perfume, for the price you really get what you ask for ! so cozy and perfect for fall and winter.

My Treasure!
For days I have been thinking about how to write a comment for this fragrance. A comment that does justice to this scent. Yes, it will probably be very subjective. To quote Gollum: "My precious!" Gollum was likely enchanted by the glow of the ring, I by the scent of Farah.
Where have you been hiding, in a cave from 1001 Nights?
Through detours, as it probably happens a thousand times here on Parfumo, I stumbled upon it. Midnight Poison, Angels Share, Ambre Narguile, fragrance twins and fragrance notes researched. Read threads, watched recommendations, and researched again. Sniffed Arabesque and Maasai Mara. Sought out samples. But you know how it is.
All the ones mentioned here I like very much. They are not all twins to each other, but for me, a direction emerges that seems to be mine. Oriental-sweet, Oriental-spicy.
Farah was indeed a blind buy, and I am glad I made it. Of all the ones mentioned so far, Farah is my treasure, my favorite, the most beautiful fragrance in my collection. And I don’t even want to add a "so far," because at the moment I firmly believe that Farah is my scent and will remain my treasure.
So how does it smell? I don’t know how to explain it, instead, a whole bunch of adjectives come to mind: spicy, sweet, dark, mysterious, sensually seductive, unique, beautiful.
Date, honey, and the resins provide a diverse sweetness that is not cloyingly sweet or sticky. Cinnamon adds its spiciness, patchouli, and I believe musk and leather ground the composition and give this fragrance a mystical aura. Oh, it is just so beautiful.
Before this comment drifts too much into the cheesy, I will end it here.
Just one more thing, the longevity is very good. For me, at least 12 hours. The sillage is also very good from my perspective, although I might not be able to assess it that well myself.
And now I hope it can also be worn in summer, maybe just one spray...half a spray.

Oriental for the Sensitive
I have my issues with orientals. Often too sweet, too heavy, too many Christmas aromas and overall... When I read about the pyramid of dates with honey and cinnamon, I get the urge for a sausage sandwich. Therefore, I approached Haram with reservations that turned out to be completely unfounded.

Yes, this is an oriental fragrance, but it neither reminds me of the Christmas market nor of 1001 Nights. I don't notice the dates at all; honey and cinnamon are used very subtly, making this simply a warm, friendly cuddle scent for relaxed hours by candlelight and dreary weather outside. You are not overwhelmed by an expansive sillage, and even I wouldn't feel overdressed with it, as I often do with oriental perfumes. None of the listed notes dominate, so I find the scent pleasant and balanced.

Well, Haram is a bit sweeter than my usual preferences, but the range of notes I find pleasant has greatly expanded through Parfumo, and in this case, the fine leather note adds the necessary balance. Therefore, I could definitely see Haram in my collection. For occasions where I usually reach for Ambre Gris by Balmain, Haram would be a suitable alternative.

This fragrance is very similar to Parfums de Marly Oajan with not as good silage and lesser cinnamon in it.

Beautiful date, soaked in honey and spiced Christmas punch. Great in winter. Deep, dark, warm, sweet, without any loud squeaks or shrieks.

Honey-sweet cinnamon dream, yet a bit different from Dolcelisir. Where Dolce bites, Farah caresses.
