There are coincidences.....
As often on Parfumo, scent impressions are very, very subjective. And among the comments here, I could only get a rough idea of Ambar del Sur.
I quickly grabbed the thing in the souk, and what can I say? The perfumer must have drawn some serious inspiration.
When sprayed on, you can clearly smell a beautiful bergamot for a few moments, but then it gets a bit dirty on the skin.
Do you know that feeling when an amber on the skin initially becomes a bit musty, sweaty, stinky?
Ambar del Sur starts for me the first 45 minutes like a dirty Grand Soir. But then it softens! After a good hour, it transforms. Yes, and what can I say? You basically have 1:1 Amouage material on your skin.
Sandalwood, myrrh & cistus create the impression of elemi resin. Generally, the Carner is a touch!!!! less spicy than the Amouage & it lacks a good hint of high-quality vanilla.
Still, it's easily 95% similar. The Carner is less dense, has less volume, and runs out of steam faster than the Amouage.
Overall, that's completely fine, especially for someone like me who collects everything that is called "amber."
