Finally a Chypre that matches my skin!

A chypre without oakmoss seemed the perfect chypre for me and that's why I bought this after sampling.
I always wanted to love chypres for their sharp, green and zesty qualities, but the oakmoss in many of them always spoils it for me because on my skin oakmoss just won't behave :-). It always turns out as a very bitter, unpleasant, musty and very dirty note. Even the most 'friendly' ones like Jean-Louis Scherrer Eau de Toilette have that effect on me unfortunately.
So a chypre without oakmoss would be the solution, I thought. And I was right!
I can understand why the real diehard chypre fans find the panther in this scent too 'tame' and maybe find the perfume 'not the real chypre as they know it', but for me this is just perfect! It has that green, zesty, almost ozonic vibe of a chypre, very airy and fresh, but without anything dirty.
I don't get pineapple, rose, Jasmine or pear in a way I can detect them as separate notes, but I certainly get Lily of the Valley, even in the way I smell that in Diorissimo, but in that one, I find the Lily of the Valley too outspoken. Here it is balanced out by those other notes apparently, lifting the Lily of the Valley to a higher, more airy- and green level, instead of performing just as being 'soapy' or 'aldehydic'.
Perfect for spring and summer because it is so fresh, almost cooling, but with still the scent profile of a chypre.
Very happy with my purchase!

Sexy panther or mischievous kitty?

I tested today this eau de toilette by Cartier and while I was spraying the scent on the mouillette and on my skin I was imagining a sexy and warm jus , maybe thinking about a black panther, symbol of wild feminity and seduction.
But it wasn't so. I found this eau quite fresh-flowery with a little powdery touch , a typical springtime scent.
First of all I smelled a smooth gardenia note, then the musky notes arrived, but very pale and soft.
Looking at the pyramid right now, I have a confirmation of this quite poor accord , although well balanced.
I could say that instead of a panther this eau is a sweet and mischievious kitty , because there isn't any sexy note and the sillage too is quite weak in comparison to the other precious creations by the Maison Cartier .
The bottle is a precious sculpture and it's very particular: a multifaceted panther face, icon of the famous jewelry brand. Maybe a little "over the top"for my tastes.
So, I'm a little disappointed thinking about the high price of this perfume: if you're searching for a precious object to show, this one is perfect , but if you want to feel a sexy panther, forget this light scent and look for other creations of the same maison, such as "Must" or " Le baiser du dragon", or , at least, try the eau de parfum version, more concentrated and a little warmer and "wild".

Easy going classic

Wearing La Panthère EDT is being classy and somehow a bit "old school" without smelling dated. It's fresh and floral. Primarily I smell a floral musk but when I put my nose on my skin, I can definitively smell white flowers. There is something almost slightly fruity too, but in a floral way, something like osmanthus. Between the EDT and the EDP, I prefer the EDT, more easy-going and bright. Beware though, it definitively has a strong chypre DNA, so thoose who don't want to smell too "classic", may not like it.

Floral and Delicate

First of all: This Panthère EdT is the only Panthère I have encountered so far, and I am not familiar with the original scent. I also haven't read any descriptions beforehand. Based on the associations with the name, I expected something impressive and powerful. The surprise was all the greater when I tested it and started my day with it:

The scent begins floral-fresh, not at all scratchy or unruly, rather light and cheerful. It has a very nice note that is quite perceptible to me, very clean and pleasant. It remains unchanged for several hours, so I wonder how the fragrance got its name and when the wild animal will make an appearance. After a few hours, a very light, powdery warmth and sweetness develops, but it remains very much in the background. The fresh flowers are still very present.

It is indeed a special scent that has a very delicate, light note for me. The flowers dominate, while musk and sandalwood remain quite subdued; the fresh floral scent prevails. After about 7 hours, it unfortunately bids farewell, leaving only a faint trace detectable.

I associate it not with a lush sea of flowers, but rather with a walk in the park among landscaped flower beds or a lunch break on a park bench, surrounded by a light floral scent, perhaps in early summer on a beautiful sunny day. I imagine its wearer as natural, open, and rather casual.

I did not discover the panther, but rather a tame kitten enjoying the warm rays of the sun while softly purring.

For me, a lovely, pleasant companion in the warm season, suitable for everyday wear, but not for a grand appearance. It could one day become a permanent guest in my collection, but first, a room would need to become available...

Cat in the Laundry Basket

On velvet paws, the cat dances through the hallway. The day is just breaking, and the furry diva is looking for a place to rest. Upon arriving in the laundry room, she promptly settles into the laundry basket filled with freshly folded clothes. Her personal assistant (perfectly trained, she opens various doors and food cans. She strokes the cat's fur whenever needed and is otherwise available for all sorts of menial tasks) was kind enough to forget the basket.
While the soft fur tiger turns around several times, purring as she goes. (The best spot must first be found) the scent molecules of the laundry waft up.
Finally, the animal flops into a dip, begins kneading the laundry, and rhythmically coos herself to sleep.
The scent:
It reminds me so much of this image. Little cat, more pet than predator, yet still quite dangerous! (According to a Forsa survey among 20,000 birds, lizards, and mice, the cat, alongside the marten and the fox, is one of the most feared predators in the area)
An elegant and self-assured being, graciously lying in the basket with Madame and simply being herself. (Let's be honest. Those who have cats know how majestic and independent these unique creatures are)

The scent starts off tame. With the fragrance of freshly washed flowers. I do have the impression that some fruit has been added, but I can't tell which. Sweet and creamy, the scent quickly develops. While sandalwood comes through quite strongly for me. But I have no objections, so it can come on. Warm and soft, the scent envelops the wearer and makes her special.

True, there isn't much variation in the scent progression, but the fragrance is still lovely. Powdery, creamy, fresh floral, slightly fruity juicy sweet.
Sillage is rather gentle. (I’ll just say purring velvet paw)
But the longevity for an EDT at 5 hours is quite good.
Perfect for the sunny season. And the bottle is a feast for the eyes.

Conclusion:
A scent for soft, sweet, creamy hours. Not overloaded, but simple and linear. A fragrance for quiet, serene, and purring moments of happiness. With a good book or a glass of red wine paired with fine Swiss cheese and a good conversation partner by your side.
A refined scent for sensitive souls.

A very bubly, champagne-like LOTV (which isn't listed here) forward chypre. Very fresh. LOTV can perform al little aldehydic and soapy.
