Why Cartier?
Oud & Menthe seamlessly fits into the impressive works of the Les Heures Voyageuses collection. It impresses with the quality of its ingredients and composition, as well as with understated elegance. Whenever I get to know fragrances from the exclusive Cartier lines, the differences to other brands become clear to me. In my view, there is hardly anything better.
Scent development:
Oud & Menthe combines a slightly animalic yet gentle oud with a wonderfully ethereal, powdery mint. They meet in their medicinal properties, which are very delicately expressed. The typically fermented wood scent is somewhat more present throughout the development than the herbal plant, which reveals shy rose geranium nuances and gives the agarwood product a wonderfully carefree, light woody-aromatic character. In the drydown, this becomes increasingly soft - I assume due to the use of silky musk - and ultimately almost resembles a creamy-milky oud-sandalwood combination. The ingredients appear so high-quality that the fragrance remains very dynamic, nuanced, and interesting throughout its entire wear, despite its rather simple structure.Longevity and sillage:
The perfume offered in extrait concentration easily lasts all day and radiates slightly above skin level consistently. In rooms, it leaves a long-lasting, pleasantly unobtrusive scent aura. Conclusion:
Oud & Menthe is an elegant, mint-fresh, airy, light, bright, wonderfully aromatic oud fragrance, whose fermentation scent is kept very pleasant. It is hardly imaginable to be better in quality in all respects.
