Sweet tooth gluttony with 0 calorie
When it comes to food related scents, I find there are two distinctive olfactory experiences.
The first one is when you smell the food, and the second is when the food is in your mouth, so taste and smell mingle together.

The latter is obviously a stronger and more delicious sensation and it often is what I am after when it comes to gourmand perfumes.
A fragrance I can taste with my nose, if that makes sense.

Matin Calin is one of those.

Next time you come across a tin of sweetened condensed milk, grab a spoon and dribble a good dollop on your tongue.
Close your mouth and keep it there for a little while.
This mouth-feel of sugary milky guilty pleasure is what you will smell like when wearing Matin Calin.

Simple, linear, and yummy.

Ofenschlupfer
Yes, I occasionally enjoy wearing a gourmand. However, the scents should not be too food-like, otherwise it simply isn't a perfume for me anymore. Matin Calin by Comptoir Sud Pacifique is exactly such a case. There is hardly anything more food-like in a fragrance. The nice thing: During the test, it instantly catapulted me back to my childhood.

Childhood: For almost everyone, this is automatically associated with delicious food at grandma's house. However, for me, it was grandpa who conjured up a true feast for the entire family every weekend. My grandfather was a trained cook. After the war, he was employed in a company canteen in our industrial region. But on weekends, he poured his heart and soul into feeding the family. That was my grandma, my parents, and me, living together under one roof. Besides the savory classics, like mixed roast, Swabian Maultaschen, or Wurstknöpfle, he was also a pro when it came to Baden-Württemberg desserts, which included the Swabian Ofenschlupfer. Interestingly, my grandpa wasn't even a Swabian but, as we used to say, "neigschmeckt."

When I first sprayed Matin Calin, I found myself in my parents' kitchen, and my grandpa was just preparing Ofenschlupfer. I could not only see the sweet dish made from bread with apples from our orchards, milk, and eggs, along with plenty of cinnamon and raisins baking in the oven, but I could almost taste it. The fragrance contains neither apple nor raisin notes, but mainly warm milk, cinnamon, and caramelized sugar. The sandalwood is not worth mentioning; you can't perceive it anyway. I think it's the combination of fresh milk (of course, directly from the farm back then) and egg that creates this impression for me.

Since I certainly don't want to smell like Ofenschlupfer, the scent wasn't an option for me. However, that doesn't make the childhood memory I had while sniffing any less lovely. I think I need to find out how to prepare these sweet delights in the fall. Because I would much rather eat something like that than spray it on myself. The fact that it can be so food-like in the perfume sector surprised me, however, from the French brand Comptoir Sud Pacifique. Whether it's wearable or not is something everyone must decide for themselves. For fans of scents like Salt Caramel, I recommend giving it a try. The longevity of this sweet dish is around 4-5 hours, which is average.

Simple Things
A short fragrance comment at the beginning: "Matin Calin" smells sugary to honey-sweet and milky, there isn't really any development. The scent evokes something soft, warm, and "cozy" and reminds one of warmed and sweetened milk. It is close to the skin and unobtrusive, the longevity is quite good. It is very suitable for "layering"!
If you are only interested in a brief comment about the fragrance, you don't need to read further.
After some testing with fragrances from CSP, I think this brand operates on a pretty clever, but not illegal business model.
When I worked in a fragrance lab in my younger years, I noticed that now and then perfumers used finished accords or ready-made components (which consist of various raw materials) in their formulations instead of "real" raw materials. This is a completely normal process. One such fragrance component was, for example, "condensed milk" from a renowned fragrance and flavor manufacturer, which has been incorporated as a component into a larger composition.
So, I have been testing some CSPs for a while now and recognize these ready-made mixtures again. Haha! Very nice! "Matin Calin" is precisely this "condensed milk." Of course, after six fragrances from CSP, I can't say that none of the fragrances from this company is self-composed; perhaps a house perfumer has had a hand in one or the other fragrance.
Well, the fragrances don't have to be bad because of this; I think they will mostly be classified as simple or monothematic because they are actually intended as components for further processing, which in itself isn't really "bad." The question is how one should evaluate something like this, if it even needs to be evaluated at all. And there is no copyright for fragrances anyway. The manufacturer is certainly aware of this relabeling by CSP (company Albrecht & Dill).
I can no longer take the product range of CSP completely seriously, but I will still wear one or the other fragrance for fun when I feel like it or want to add an accord to a perfume. Theoretically, I could also inquire with the original manufacturing companies...

The Horror from the Bottle
Oh! Warm, sweetened milk! How I hate that!

Can't you sleep, kid? Drink hot milk with honey.
Got a cough, sweetheart? Here, hot milk with honey.
Are you catching a cold, darling? Here, hot milk with honey!

I HATE HOT MILK WITH HONEY!
It makes me nauseous, I feel like throwing up, I’m going to pass out. Dead.

That's exactly what this stuff smells like. Like warmed milk, ancient sandalwood, and vanilla. Hasi wrote something about "condensed milk" further down, that fits too. Sugary condensed milk.

My God, this is terrible. I can't even contain myself anymore.
However, there is one good thing about this scent: it doesn't last. No, you spray it on, gag for a moment, and are glad that after a quarter of an hour it's over. Although that quarter feels like half a day.

Yuck.

I really hate boiling milk!!
Hey guys, I'm back and bringing you another new review. This time about a rather dreadful fragrance called “Matin Câlin” by Comptoir Sud Pacifique (or at least with a dreadful top note). Some of you might actually like this scent if, for example, you have nothing against fragrances that smell intensely of boiling milk, but that particular note is something that can really chase me away.

If I smell boiling milk anywhere, I’m out of there in a flash. The few situations where I can tolerate hot milk a little bit would be, for example, when I heat a small amount of milk in the microwave for my coffee, so I don’t have to put cold milk in my coffee, which would make the coffee cool down faster. So, with such small amounts, it’s still okay. Otherwise… ugh… disgusting.
In our family, for example, we really enjoy making rice pudding, and I love eating it, but I could NEVER voluntarily make it, as I simply couldn’t enter the kitchen that smells completely of (a lot of) boiling milk during preparation. Luckily, there are so many people here who enjoy making it often that I can still enjoy rice pudding :D

Anyway, I endured the scent for you. It does get better after the top note, but the top note almost brought tears to my eyes because I nearly gagged, and it spoiled the fragrance for me, even though I must admit that the base doesn’t smell really bad and might actually appeal to some… aargh!!!

The scent:
The scent starts with caramel, sugar, and milk. What sounds quite delicious here somehow smells harsher than one would like. As mentioned in the introduction, the indicated milk note smells to me like boiling milk, which is a very exhausting scent and even smells really disgusting. This is also the phase where I almost considered washing the scent off immediately. But I wanted to know if the scent stays the same or gets better, so I clipped a clothespin to my nose and waited a few minutes :D
And lo and behold, the scent actually gets a little better, as the boiling milk note weakens and is overtaken by more caramel and sugar. It starts to become really gourmand and smells sweet, but in the background, the milk and a kind of anise-like spiciness are still present, which simply annoys me and prevents me from rating the scent higher, as I just don’t like it.
Be that as it may,… later the scent smells a little better. You can still smell (brown) sugar and caramel, mixed with a lot of powdery vanilla and still some unidentifiable herbs in the background, which have now become much weaker. But now it’s okay, and I think most of you might like it, but many disturbing factors just annoy me, so overall, I didn’t really like the scent, as the later base becomes a bit biting again,… not as harsh as in the top note, but still. No… this scent and I will never be friends :D

The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is average (thank goodness… :D) and therefore only detectable from close up. However, this intensity remains consistent for several hours before it starts to fade. Unfortunately, the longevity is longer than I would like. Six hours are easily achievable, which is just too much for me here :DD

The bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and chrome-plated. It has a blue and white label with a nice logo (an island) on the front, and the cap is also cylindrical and silver. Well… I find the bottle a bit ugly… :D

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
I have tested quite a few disgusting fragrances over the years, but here I almost gagged for the first time, causing my eyes to water slightly. The top note of the fragrance is VERY VERY harsh and bites worse than the sharp and pointy teeth of a vengeful tomcat!

Although I mentioned that the scent gets better afterward, you have to survive the top note first. After that, you can certainly find enjoyment in the fragrance if you have a strong preference for milk, sugar, caramel, sugar shock, etc. :D
Yes, it is very gourmand, but I definitely prefer chocolatey scents over those with a lot of milk, or let’s say: boiling milk. However, I still think that it might appeal to some ladies here, so I would cautiously recommend a test. Cautiously because the later base becomes a bit worse or biting again.

It is only wearable in autumn and winter, even though the sillage shouldn’t be too extreme, this type of fragrance definitely belongs in seasons with cooler days and shouldn’t really be worn at work or when going out, unless you want to scare a lot of people away!

Well, that’s it again, I wish you all a nice Sunday evening, see you later :)

The milk and caramel note isn't softened by other tones and is so overpoweringly gourmand that it immediately turns me off.

Even though it's conceptually interesting, the smell of lukewarm boiled milk is too much for me in the long run. It has to go immediately.

Delicious sweet honey milk, slightly burnt.
Not as a perfume, but I love the scent. It's so cozy and reminiscent of childhood.

Totally strange! No idea why, right after spraying it, I smell cheese soup with leeks, yuck! But then it develops into a milky-sweet scent...
