Super dooper sweet apricot
Being such a favourite of many celebrities including, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Jessica Simpson, the late Brittany Murphy, Ashlee Simpson, Fergie and Nicole Kidman, I felt it was a need to order a sample of this fragrance to see what all the fuss was about.

Vanille Abricot is sweet and vanillary. What you would most likely expect. If you adore the scent of apricots, sweet and juicy on the skin, Vanille Abricot is for you. Unfortunately, despite the fact that I understand all the hype surrounding this particular fragrance, apricot is a note that I find far too sickeningly sweet, even when combined into cooking. The thought of apricot chicken makes me cringe.

There is something very feminine and pretty about this fragrance, however I wouldn't call this sexy, unless a girl in pig-tails, eating an icecream is your definition of sexy.

The scent is very strong, so I'd recommend applying it sparingly or walking through the mist. I made the mistake of applying too liberally when I first received the sample, and almost gagging for the rest of the day.

I agree with the 'walking bakery' references, it does have a very gourmand feel, however to me Vanille Abricot smells more like vanilla icecream balls on freshly sliced apricot.

Hollywood and its stars must really like sweet scents, hence the reason why celebrities themselves release such sweet fragrances. I'm surprised that Comptoir Sud Pacifique hasn't managed to hit my shores in Australia yet. It's such a popular brand all over the world.

Sweet Vanilla and Soft Abricot
Vanille Abricot is definitely a Gourmant Scent. This Fragrance is really delicious, when i put it on, i smell fresh and sweet Fruits like the Papaya and the Apricot. Then it turns into a very sweet, warm and cozy vanilla scent, i also smell burned sugar and some Apricot in the background, reminds me at a yummy summer dessert. The Vanilla smells really good but is not overstated or to powerful. I enjoy to wear this scent but it's nothing unique but a good scent for Vanilla-Lovers.

in the baby assassins' arsenal
After sniffing Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s Vanille Abricot for the first time again in 20 years, I feel like a clever child-villain has dosed me with some sort of pixie-stick poison. They’re skipping away merrily as I sink to the floor, my lungs disintegrating under the assault of Marshallow Meltdown, a bioweapon based on the classic confectionary formula wherein a foam made up of air suspended in a super-saturated liquid sugar mixture is stabilized by gelatin, but in this version, a team of elite evil scientists have whipped in classic plastic 1980s Strawberry shortcake doll parts and expired cans of Del Monte fruit cocktail instead. The resulting vat of goop undergoes a proprietary crystallization process and the lurid glowing shards are then crushed to a dust, which when viewed under a microscope, resembles tiny Barbie-Pink ninja throwing stars. This fatal powder is the preferred method of dispatchment used by tiny assassins who whisper BYE BOOMER as they toodle away. "But I’m GEN X" you gasp weakly as you lose consciousness under the terrible onslaught of the smell.

Subtle and Sweet...
The fragrance is a simple one. Sweet and fruity, but not cloying. It mixes the smell of tart juicy fruits (jackfruit, apricot, papaya) with edible notes of sugared candy and a heavy underlying base of vanilla. It sits on skin very well, blending with your natural aroma to give a sweet, natural scent to warm skin. Almost edible-like sweet and delicious.

Apart from that, it’s simplicity is it’s only drawback. It literally smells like it’s name. Vanilla and apricot. Which isn't a bad thing, as sometimes you want something simple which makes you feel happy. If sweet perfumes and fragrances are your thing, look no further than this to cheer you up, Vanille Abricot is sweet without being cloying or tooth-achingly so. I like it, but I couldn't wear it every day.

Homemade tarts with apricot filling!
Bought this perfume as part of a travel size sample set from Sephora just before they discontinued Comptoir Sud Pacifique (CSP) from their brand offering. Held off from trying CSP because I had other decants to try out, but now I've been coming back to my travel sizes to try and declutter. Which is why I'm starting with this one!

I've got to say I'm pleasantly surprised by it. I didn't have any expectations coming in, but now I gotta say I'm hooked. The beginning brings out the apricot quite clearly on my skin (once the alcohol has evaporated) with its sweet fruitiness. There's a warm, honey-like facet somewhere in there that's so mouthwatering. Jackfruit and papaya are pretty faint to me, but they lend another layer of fruitiness and some freshness (just enough not to make the perfume feel too cloying). Vanilla doesn't take too long before appearing which turns the perfume into a homemade vanilla tart with apricot filling scent. Rock sugar is sweet, sugary, warm and smooth: a bit similar to benzoin for those more familiar with this note. After about 2 hours, the fruitiness starts to fade and this is when vanilla finally takes the spotlight with rock sugar as a companion. It's a pretty simple and straightforward vanilla; the one we've all come to know and love, but rock sugar adds warmth and an ambery facet that further enhances the sweetness of vanilla.

I've got to say I'm pretty pleased by this one. I know CSP loves to play around with vanilla and different fruits, so I'm pretty excited to see how my other travel sizes will smell on me. I love the fact that it can be worn during warmer temperatures too (although I would avoid sweltering days) even though I have the impression it'll shine even more during cold temperatures. I'll have to test it out later. Right now it'll be staying a 10ml travel size, but if I ever finish it, I might ponder on adding a full bottle to my collection.

Smells just like apricot tarts! Fruity with a bit of freshness, sugary and sweet. Evolves into a warm sugary vanilla that can be worn always
