To whom it may concern,
there are fragrances that are not fragrances. There are fragrances to which one cannot write a comment. There are fragrances that cannot be described. Lavender is just like that. I discovered it quite unexpectedly on my birthday in Berlin. I am a gourmand-loving chocolate addict, I like it strong and quirky. That I would find my holy grail in a floral scent was absurd. While I love nature, I love flowers, I love musk, I love lavender - but as a perfume, it has always seemed too generic, too meaningless, too transparent to me.
I probably love Lavender exactly for that reason - it is not a perfume. It is a scent that envelops me, that suits me, always, really always, that captures and perfectly complements every mood, that calms me down when I am angry, that lifts me up when I am sad, that covers me when I am melancholic, that dances with me when I am happy. I feel so at home with it, so understood, so right. There are only a few fragrances that achieve this, that are so wholly ME, that I can wear at any time of day or night, for any mood, for any feeling, for any state. Fragrances that always fit. Lavender is exactly such a scent and I owe a lot to this fragrance because through it I discovered that the other fragrances that deserve that status as holy grail are also completely natural scents. Scents that smell real, that smell like my own scent, that smell like me. There are not many of those, and of course, it will be different for everyone, after all, we are all different. But the fragrances that are like that for me, I would like to describe once with true love or soul connection. They can certainly be strong orientals, powerful gourmands, skin-close floral scents, or fruity citrus bombs. In any case, they fit their wearer and their wearer fits them, because they merge with each other - and that is exactly what I wish for from a perfect scent.
