Horse stable
?!!
Never semelled an oud fragrance that’s so skanky as this one! Is it Cambodjan oud? Anyhow, oud Is the ruler here!
Initial spray is like a horse stable x 100. If you planning to wear this fragrance you must use it 1-2 hours before you leave your place. The drydown is ...oud. Very hard to love. The only thing i dislike is the quality of the bottle. My al Haramein bottles (midnight Musk & oud) have a production issue with the sprayer.

I've had a couple of bottles of this for 6 years now...
...and, wearing it again today, I'm struck by how authentic this is.

If you're rating this upon its opening, it's going to score low. It's discordant, cheese-laden funk is not the highlight by any means. But hang in there, this puts anything with the words "Tom Ford" and "Oud" in the same sentence to shame. I have several Tom Ford Oud scents and have owned a number of the private line - and I don't mean to pick on Tom Ford as one could easily substitute Maison Francis Kukdjian or any other house charging an arm and a leg for scents that contain no real oud - but I can't understand when somebody looking for an "Oud" scent looks for these and pays the prices they do rather than something like this that is often found cheaper (though comparable to grey market pricing per ml.)

That being said, the scent itself, as noted, opens up rather animalic and funky. After a while, the amber begins to round out the edges and gives it a resinous, almost incense-like vibe. At this point, if you stick your nose where you sprayed, you're still going to get animalic-funk'n'cheese to a lesser degree because the charm in this is in its sillage. Its projection is pretty noticeable, but its sillage is deceptive. Walk out of a room you've been in, go outside and come back into the same room 20 minutes later and you will be struck by the most ethereal, incense and woody accord hovering in the air like an invisible mist.

Stellar, top shelf stuff. It's an utter shame that some people see Al Haramain as a "clone house," and forego these unique offerings, along with some of their exclusive (prestige) attars such as Sheik, which are far, far, far better than most designer stuff out there. While it's still available on their website, other offerings from the same prestige line appear to be discontinued (I have Amazing Mukhallath and Ode of Oud, both of which deserve a wider audience but may no longer be as readily available.)

Well, to be honest, it stinks!
The description didn't promise anything good. 'Animalic-woody' is written there. All alarm bells rang, sirens wailed, the red warning light was blazing, my inner angel warned me: 'No, don't do it! Keep your fingers or rather your nose away from that scent! It's not for you!'
On the other hand, my inner devil said: 'You got the sample. You know what that means. Go on, open it! Try the scent and tell about it!'
In this case, I listened to the devil while the angel turned away in horror and sought refuge, looking for a clothespin for the nose.
And even though I'm not the kind of person who stands up and says 'would have, could have, etc.', I should have listened to the angel inside me.
Because what followed was an extremely borderline and questionable scent experience with Obsessive Oudh by Al Haramain.

The fragrance pyramid is quite minimalistic, musk, amber, oud, amber, oud, ah yes. The direction is pretty clear...
A small dab on the wrist and instantly I find myself in a garden. But this garden is not beautiful and cozy. This garden is a complete misery, utterly devastated by a wild and crazed herd of cattle that has just trampled everything down in a stampede and joyfully let everything fall out, front and back, that one could imagine in their wildest fantasies.

It's mushy, it's steaming, it stinks, and I'm right in the middle of this whole mess gasping for breath.
Moreover, this horrible hellish brew digs deep into the skin and spreads its unpleasant breath so intensely that I genuinely feel nauseous.
I have never experienced this with any fragrance before. However, can I really call this stuff a fragrance? Fragrance is supposed to explain itself, and I associate that with something beautiful and pleasant.
But Obsessive Oudh is not beautiful to me; it doesn't smell, it doesn't scent, it just stinks.
Thus, the contaminated wrist had to be treated after a while with water, soap, and a brush. A total of 4 washes were necessary, and don't worry, the abraded spots are no longer visible and have healed well.
The name Obsessive Oudh is already somewhat creepy. Obsessive derives from obsession. Was someone possessed by the devilish idea of torturing others with such a scent? Who knows...

I just seriously wonder, why would someone want to smell like this? I can't think of a suitable occasion for such stuff. Unless maybe you want to clear out a crowded subway in seconds *devilish laugh*

No, I stand by my opinion; fragrances with such overt animalic notes, with such a clear tendency towards animal or even human excretions (which brings us back to possibly embarrassing misunderstandings), will never be my direction.
I sincerely thank Terra for enriching me with a scent experience; even borderline ones should be tried and shared with others.
I've been told it can get even worse with Sécretions Magnifiques, but I wave that off; I don't even want to know.
Of course, I don't want to step on the toes of fans of such fragrances with these sentences; I know this fragrance direction has its lovers. But I don't belong to that group.
If I were to be tortured and this scent were sprayed on me, I would reveal all secrets.

That's enough for me; I absolutely do not want to smell like that, I don't want to torture my fellow humans, and I will strictly forbid my acquaintances from approaching me with this hellish brew if anyone has the idea of acquiring Obsessive Oudh.
Violations will be mercilessly punished with massive cotton ball bombardments and at least 10 sprays of Fleur du Male :-D

And that reminds me of this silly song from school days, which we always sang to the dismay of our music teacher: 'Two figures sat on the thunderbolt and they cried for toilet paper...'
And with this cheerful little song, I am looking for the next fragrant flower bed where I can roll around :-)

If you appreciate funky, truly animalic, cheesy, authentic Middle Eastern oud, you will LOVE this feral beauty! Comparable to Zafar.

It’s all very human and insect-like, it steams and fogs up cheerfully. Where are all these flies coming from? Off to the next flower bed. *ugh*

Dry oud, also quite animalistic, quickly loses intensity. Musky notes layer over the oud. Overall, no.

Wild, animalistic, dry-woody oud on a subtly warm-ambered background with a naughty fruity-sweet humanizing musk.

A punch: initially very animalistic and fecal - for European noses, this should be clearly too much without getting used to it and knowledge!

I've rarely smelled such a delicious interplay of oud, amber, and musk. Animalic, dry, bitter, and woody. What an oriental!

Fearlessly - sprayed on after some descriptions here - and: very beautiful! Animal fur: yes. Fecal: not at all. If... that’s how it smelled...

Very warm notes of amber, musk, and oud. Not sweet and very balanced. Very elegant and refined.

Soft oud scent without much fuss, with a bit of zing, lots of charm, and no bang - a well-crafted, lovely caresser that unfolds gently.
