Soapy Lily
I actually wanted to test Crabtree & Evelyn's Lily of the Valley, but it looks to have been replaced in 2011 with this fragrance. The sales lady in the store tried to convince me that Lily was very similar to the old Lily of the Valley. I can't draw any conclusions until I sample them both, however I can say that Lily is a very pleasant white floral.

It's quite a lush, green floral scent on the skin. Absolutely perfect for the Spring weather, especially when paired with a pretty sundress. I think a lot of women will fall in love with Crabtree & Evelyn's Lily. It's undoubtedly feminine and clean.

Whenever I wear Lily it makes me feel refreshed and carefree. It's a good fragrance to turn to when you can't decide what else to wear. To my nose, it smells rather soapy, which isn't such a bad thing. It makes me think of those luxurious, creamy soaps that are often too expensive to buy. The ones that lather well, and leave the skin lightly scented after a bath or shower. Crabtree & Evelyn's Lily is kind of like those exclusive soaps. There's a certain element of luxury to be enjoyed.

The composition can be a little linear at times. Lily of the valley is the most dominant accord, followed by some green notes, white musk and ylang ylang. Like I mentioned before, the entire blend is quite floral and soapy.

Despite the fact that Lily is as light as a feather on the skin, the longevity isn't half bad, however it does struggle to last over eight hours. I rather enjoy spending time in Crabtree & Evelyn stores, and I love the country atmosphere that the brand has created. Their line of soliflores are well worth exploring.

a good lily of the valley scent, but...
...not a substitute for "Lily of the valley". That was my first signature scent. I actually wore it constantly as a teenager, in summer as well as in winter. What I loved about this fragrance was that it was very clean - lily of the valley and nothing more - and a very natural lily of the valley, but still somewhat piercing, fussy, just like lilies of the valley can be (namely toxic for us humans).

Today I tested the new "Lily" scent. I quite like it, in contrast to many overly soapy/powdery lily of the valley fragrances.
It is, in contrast to its predecessor, much rounder, "more perfumey", accompanied by a creamy, slightly darker base, but also somewhat artificial. It is no longer my scent.

The sillage is a bit better, but still quite soapy. The longevity is low (3-4 hours, I would say).
I quite like the feel of the bottle, but it doesn’t suit a floral fragrance for me; it’s too minimalist/clunky for that.

Spring is Approaching
Anyone who knows the discontinued Lily of the Valley from the same manufacturer will not find a replacement in this fragrance, as it is completely differently conceived.
This lily of the valley is very modern: only the equally fresh hyacinth accompanies it. Like in the forest, it is nestled among mosses and woods, however: not a cozy scent! I, although a die-hard lily of the valley fan, had my difficulties at first. I purchased a pretty set with care products of the same scent that flank the Eau de Toilette. I thought I couldn’t go wrong with that. It is a very straightforward, cool lily of the valley, and I had to get used to it. But: if you give yourself and the fragrance some time, you will discover a completely new lily of the valley, less rounded than in Diorissimo or Aqua Allegoria Lilia Bella, but more angular and straightforward. Now I love it. It is made for nature-loving forest fairies, queens of the forest, and those who wish to become one. It is subtle, green, fresh, and honest. No sweetness, no fluff.
In addition, there is body lotion and body cream. I can especially recommend the latter.
Let spring into your hearts and give the new lily of the valley a chance!
