DKNY has an ability to make extremely interesting fragrances; Black Cashmere, both scent and bottle are magnificent; Donna Karan EdP which, unfortunately, is only in my possession as a decant from a generous parfumista, but still it knocked me out, and when I came back from unconsciousness, I asked it to do it again.
Gold EdT… I am not sure what note it is that is so different. The Casablanca Lily? The Cistus? The Jasmine? The mix between the three? Nevertheless, it is exactly that note, that makes Gold so amazingly unique. It adds a watery feeling to the somewhat heavy mix and makes it wearable at all times and places. I had the EdP as well. It has the same easily recognizable mix, but to me it became too loud. So in this case, the EdP vs. EdT, EdT is quite sufficient in strength for me.
It lasts for an eternity and I dare say it is recognizable everywhere. The sillage is moderate.
The square bottle with the woody lid it sophisticated and looks nice on the shelf.
This is a keeper, if you like the gorgeously strange mix of notes, that makes it stand out in the crowd.

Black Locust Blossom

I blind-bought this based on a Luca Turin review in which he states there are only two great lily fragrances: F. Malle's Lys Méditerranée and Donna Karan Gold.

Gold is discontinued but still available in the US at a bargain price on eBay. Knowing that discontinued fragrances eventually rise above my price range, I snapped up an ounce of the EDT.

Since then, I've gone back for a bottle of the EDP and a back-up bottle of the EDT because yes, I like it that much. But not for the lily! Which is fine, sure. However, it is the black locust blossom that is divine.

The black locust tree is native to North America. For two short weeks in spring, it is festooned in creamy white blossoms resembling wisteria in form. The blossoms cover the tree, and the trees are nearly always in groups. So the air around them is redolent with their fragrance.

The smell is recognizably "spring flowers": similar to lily of the valley but without its chilly sharpness. Very similar to lilac but without lilac's less-pleasant dank, musty brown nuances.

And black locust blossom's fragrance evokes both orange blossom and mock orange blossom -- smells that are among my favorites on earth.

Apparently, it is difficult to distill black locust blossom into perfume. And apparently, few perfumes showcase it. So, if you know the smell and love it, make haste to sample Gold before the last bottles are gone.

Resurrection

I hadn't had the time or energy for perfume for many years, as life got in the way. For the past few months - not least due to a wonderful perfume meeting and the accompanying "fragrant" people - I have, so to speak, found myself again and rediscovered my love for scents. And I have indulged greatly, very greatly.
Bankrupt due to fragrances, so to speak.
After the restraint of the last few years, there now follows excess, yes a certain greed for life, for new experiences, for adventures, for new, what should I say, perfumes.
Since I enjoy spending a lot of time at home, I perhaps use YouTube more than others, among other reasons, because in the meantime a large, international community of Fumeheads has formed that tirelessly produces new content.
Back to the gold of Donna Karan.
I came across this fragrance through a perfume YouTuber, who praised it in the highest terms. As mentioned above, being a bit short on cash, I was able to acquire it here in the souk at a reasonable price (did I mention my newfound adventurous spirit)?
What can I say, I smell none of the mentioned ingredients. No lily, acacia, jasmine, etc. Possibly the pollen (I actually had to sneeze quite a bit when I first sprayed the scent, being an allergy sufferer), I can smell that.
I am enchanted and fascinated; I would almost say in love. I can't explain why the scent is beautifully tear-inducing for me; I suspect it touches something that has long been buried within me. At some point, I will find out what it is and why it moves me so. Therefore, I have acquired a bunker bottle from eBay, just in case.
Unfortunately, it is no longer available everywhere, but if you discover it, it is definitely worth it.
