Raid through Amazonia
After testing in the perfumery, I usually make brief notes about the scent, but the vocabulary is rather modest. However, since this fragrance is now in my possession, I can take my time to put pen to paper.
Adventure Amazonia is, for me, a versatile and quite successful variation of the great adventurer. The original Adventure, on the other hand, often gets in its own way with its exaggerated heaviness. Coupled with a rather mediocre longevity, it requires frequent reapplication, and Adventure can quickly come off as overdone. Adventure Amazonia avoids this problem, as it is much more vibrant and does without overly heavy base notes. While the longevity is still lamentable, at a price of €30 for a 100ml field bottle, it is forgivable.
Adventure Amazonia opens with a fine citrus note and presents itself as truly juicy-green. The holly smells wonderfully herbaceous here. The scent of the opening could come straight from the rainforest, as it smells wonderfully natural - not a given for Davidoff. The spices emerge a few moments later between the leaves and provide a slightly peppery-sharp impression. Nothing feels overloaded; the scent remains very transparent. Although not specified, I believe I perceive a hint of sesame. It is the same note as in Adventure, albeit appearing somewhat subdued. This wonderful impression lasts for two hours, always surrounding you with a scent of wanderlust. However, what happens afterward I consider a gross offense. Adventure Amazonia initially presents itself as blooming and well-structured, only to abruptly fall apart. What remains is hardly more than a whisper of the spice blend and a warm cedarwood note. Yet, this comes with such a weak projection intensity that one would have to take the term "skincet" literally. On the paper strip, or on clothing, Amazonia smells somewhat synthetic upon closer inspection during the final phase. Given the low projection, this circumstance can be overlooked.
I generally try to evaluate the scent itself and its longevity separately. It is clear that the longevity rating is significantly worse. However, it is also appropriate to make concessions regarding the scent due to the stolen base note.
Thus, I would like to award the fragrance the whole pot, but without a pedestal, it must also be content with that.
