DDD or The Demeter Dilemma!
It really isn't that easy.
- Yes, this is about perfume!
- Yes, a perfume should serve some purpose, ideally that of being worn!
- Yes, Demeter scents are technically perfumes.
Even though these are exclusively (partly absurd) Eau de Colognes, they should still fulfill a purpose.
I don't know if I'm a particular species, because I celebrate nearly all of their scents in some way.
As ridiculous as many scents may seem (Glue, Color, Dust, Earthworm, Crayons, etc. etc.), they are in most cases quite authentic.
I won't deny that Demeter has missed the mark thoroughly a few times (Black Pepper is, for example, horrendous, Pizza is disgusting and was hit at 0.0).
But what do I do if a scent simply wants to be a scent or wants to evoke memories?
Do I evaluate the perfume as a perfume, or as what Demeter sees here as an interpretation of a scent?
In the case of Orange Cream Pop, it is even quite simple, as I find this EDC congenial and very wearable.
1. It is an incredibly beautiful summer scent that, detached from the name, comes across wonderfully orangey, vanillay, woody, and fresh.
2. The theme was hit 100%.
If you are not an outspoken ice cream hater, you have probably stumbled upon a well-known popsicle called "Cuja Mara Split."
You know how it tastes/smells?
Then you know "Orange Cream Pop" by Demeter.
The elephant in the room, however, addresses the following:
Do you want to smell like a popsicle, or can you manage to separate this or, in the best case, even wear it with a wink?
I can only speak for myself. Yes, I do!
I instantly feel good when wearing such scents and also get that when positively approached.
"mmm, did you just eat ice cream, and where's mine?" etc.
I manage quite well to accept most scents as wearable.
Of course, sometimes more, sometimes less.
I just want to say a little more about the scent itself.
And actually, that's not much.
Orange Cream Pop is a fresh, citrusy-orangey scent with a nice vanilla base. The bright woods are perfectly captured and make the EDC what it wants to be.
All of this is, of course, quite synthetic but not annoying.
The longevity is okay for an EDC but not earth-shattering.
Reapplying is necessary, which, given the price, is not a costly act.
The best advice one can give about Demeter scents is: Test them!
If you tend to be interested in such things, you can start with a scent that matches your personal taste.
You can really only be disappointed if you direct your expectations towards designer or even niche fragrances.
What you see is what you get!
Excuse my lengthy text.
As they say so beautifully in relationships? It's complicated ;)
