cinnamon apple

This is nice stuff, especially at the reasonable Demeter price.(Reasonable in the US, anyway.) It doesn't smell like long-simmered cider, but more like when you throw cinnamon sticks into a simmering pot of cider and it first begins to blend. If I were Demeter, though, I'd call it "cider with cinnamon sticks." I don't get any other spices besides cinnamon. Usually mulling involves other spices as well, especially cloves. This is gorgeous as a room spray, also, and it lasts 2-3 hours. Definitely recommended for a touch of winter coziness! (120909)

Cinnamon cough syrup

I've been on an ongoing mission to find the perfect cinnamon apple fragrance. And with this, I was hoping the search would finally end. I was sadly disappointed. The apple note was very hard to notice, and it smells overwhelmingly of cinnamon. There's a cough syrup type of bitterness to the scent as well. It's very synthetic as well to a gross extent. I think being around this fragrance for too long would give me a headache, which is rare.

Overall, very unpleasant.

Hot Apple Cider

This is the scent of October.
Indian Summer in Connecticut, a trip to an apple orchard. For $10, pick as many apples as you want. Crisp McIntosh, Honeycrisp, Red Delicious, and Empire. And if you’re lucky, the day is fresh and bright, the sun shining through the red-yellow-green foliage of the trees, and on one of the gently rolling hills, you can see down into the valley and beyond to the sea.

In hand-woven baskets, pumpkins are piled up, and in the evening by the fireplace, with a glass of hot apple cider, sweet and spicy, saying goodbye to summer is not so hard anymore. Clove and coriander give a hint of winter.

Mulled cider is so autumnal and so comfortingly warm.
I don’t use it as a perfume. But starting in September, I always add a few drops to the bed linens, and memories of golden autumn days and apple pies gently lull me to sleep.

Mulled Wine Apple Pie

The Christmas season. Even though we are still far from it (what a shame…), one can at least look forward to what awaits us with scents like this one. Yes, it may be stressful; many dread having to see possibly unpleasant relatives again, and some even consider it the biggest waste of money ever. Nevertheless, one must admit that the atmosphere is absolutely delightful and it could even be perfect if it were to snow properly again.

But what else is associated with Christmas? Right, Christmas markets.
The colorful, sometimes freezing, and crowded markets where everyone, and I mean everyone, drinks endless liters of mulled wine to warm up and enjoy the hot, alcoholic beverage. Okay, I might be the only person who finds mulled wine and all other types of hot or warm alcoholic drinks disgusting, but for those who enjoy it, they get a scent that at least at the beginning smells quite like mulled wine, but then changes a little.

The scent:
It starts with a sweet-spicy apple. Immediately following is the cinnamon, which in this fragrance comes across as sweet rather than the bitter or spicier notes found in some other cinnamon fragrances.
You can really smell the mulled wine here, achieved through the combination of these scent notes, although the fragrance also occasionally (when the apple comes through stronger) reminds one of apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon. While especially at the beginning the scent resembles mulled wine, over time it increasingly turns into the aforementioned apple pie.

The longevity is quite okay, as it stays on the skin for several hours due to the spicy cinnamon. This also allows for a reasonably good sillage, although one shouldn't expect miracles (typical of Demeter).

The bottle is as boring as always, and the label is the same. Why Demeter didn't choose a special label here like in their fragrance "Christmas in New York" (comment coming soon...) is a mystery to me. Instead, you see the eternally dull bar with the name of the fragrance, as always.

This mulled wine scent is well captured, even though it also smells like cinnamon apple pie. It is wearable,... well, that can be seen either way. It is not really suitable for wearing as a perfume, as one would smell like a holiday-themed scented candle. But if you want to meet up with friends at a Christmas market and, like me, do not enjoy drinking mulled wine but are constantly urged to do so, then applying this fragrance can at least fool everyone into thinking you’ve had enough. Maybe it works. You can tell me about it at Christmas ;)

Apple Mulled Wine

Not exactly suitable for summer, but this is really very delicious apple mulled wine. One perceives hot apple, plenty of cinnamon, and a few Christmas spices. The composition feels very balanced and natural, with no chemical notes detectable. Very tasty indeed. However, I wouldn't want to smell like this afterwards.

Cinnamon, clove, cinnamon, and apple. Not really an everyday scent, but well done. Becomes unpleasantly musty for me after 3-4 hours. H/S for EdC but good.
