Pure soap
It does what it says, at least initially: a smell of freshly-laundered clothes and hand soap. All quite dry, ambery, dusty and musky, more grayish than white as one may assume, mainly focused on a sort of industrial, artificial, cold concept of cleanness an "automat-laundry" clean, rather than a "cozy-bath" clean. Fun enough, I also get a sort of iris note, which may be due to some aromachemicals also used to build powdery notes. Synthetic amber, synthetic white musk, something generically floral; that type of notes which create something not that distant from Helmut Lang EdP or some Comme des Garçons fragrances, even if in a more raw, straightforward way - and honestly quite more boring after a while. It smells more like a base on which eventually one should build a perfume rather than a scent ready to use, but it doesn't smell that bad and is also quite inexpensive, so if you're into "clean" stuff, go for it.

Soap Not Good
After testing this fragrance, I first wondered what I had gotten myself into when I decided to comment on the ENTIRE package of Demeter scents. Yes, yes, you do like to write comments, I thought,… and that is true, but at some point even Opus IV will seem wonderful to me if I have to test more of these Demeter scents.

He he he,… whatever. I will still test them. Because on one hand it is quite interesting, but on the other hand I wonder if there are really people who spend money on these fragrances or buy the larger bottles. And Pure Soap is not even the worst scent in this line.

The scent:
Soap. It should be at least. Or Pure Soap… however, the scent smells almost similar to Clean Windows, also by Demeter. So a chemically reminiscent, sharply unpleasant cleaning product. I had imagined more the kind of soap you use when washing your hands or something. Or at least the scent should have a soapy character like in Prada Infusion d'Homme or at least Kenzo Homme...

The longevity is average, I think after about three to four hours it's over.
The sillage is stronger than expected, a blessing for all who enjoy the scent.

The bottle is unremarkable as always. There is a sticker with the name of the fragrance on it. It should be mentioned that the bar where the name is written is not monochrome this time. The "designer" must have discovered the gradient button in his graphic program!

No, the scent was nothing either. I had imagined a more pleasant soap scent, instead I got a cleaning product. Hence my low rating, but also because I do not like the cleaning product scent, it is very similar to Clean Windows but a tad less sharp.

Wash me but don't get me wet
Dear Bee is absolutely right: who even knows what pure soap smells like today? Everything is scented and perfumed, and yogurt-multivitamin comes from the soap dispenser. I am still a loyal fan of solid soap and prefer classic soapy fragrance directions without much fuss.

And here, Pure Soap by Demeter is undoubtedly the model athlete among soap scents, the benchmark of soapiness. There is nothing else in here but pure soap. Clean, pure, white, cool, fresh. Nothing distracts: no flowers, no musk, no aromas - no complexity, no softness, no tension.

Instead, full concentration on straightforward calmness. Yet it is self-assured: Pure Soap does not start quietly, in fact, it’s quite piercing. The soapy freshness tingles in the nose. While it does soften a bit over time, the pure soap character always remains intact; there’s no gentleness or powderiness here.

Pure Soap somewhat reminds me of Clean, another immediate clean scent. However, the Demeter soap goes a step further: it is not just clean, but pure.

Fresh, Clean, Pure Soap! Fortunately, No Soap Opera
Soap operas are really not my thing, as they often contain annoying elements that ruin the fun. But to each their own :)

The reason "Pure Soap" is definitely NOT a soap opera for me lies in its unbelievably simple, pure nature.
Authenticity is the key word here.

Finally, I have found a fragrance at "The Library of Fragrance" that can hold a candle to my beloved "Salt Air."
And that in the truest sense of the word.

If one were to be harsh about this EdC, one could criticize "Pure Soap" for its ruthless simplicity.
If one is kind to it, then one is precisely fascinated by that.

I belong to the latter group.

This thing is simply the cleanest soap you can imagine... just in perfume form.
I assert that EVERYONE who smells this fragrance on themselves or another person will associate it with cleanliness as their first impression.
Moreover, I claim that anyone who smells "Pure Soap" has smelled this scent somewhere before.

Whether one likes it is highly subjective.
Personally, I feel incredibly comfortable wrapped in this scent.

Many people will find it simply too plain, but you know what?
Sometimes I need exactly THAT.

Of course, I also want to wear a complex fragrance here and there that evolves over time. With "Pure Soap," you don't have to wait for that at all.

From second one to the end, there is absolutely no development in the scent.

The longevity is not bad for such a fresh EdC; I easily get through 3 hours.
The sillage is also perfectly fine. (My assessment is based on the roll-on stick - Perfume Oil)

I probably have already spent way too many words on such a simple scent, but my joy at having hit a home run again after some not-so-great TLOF fragrances (Pizza - yuck) simply outweighs everything right now.

Which "pure" soap?
Since I belong to the fossils who had to use "real" soap, I can rule one thing out: "Pure Soap" does not smell like that at all. Good!
"Pure soap" also does not smell like the beautiful pure plant oil soaps from Provence, for example. It doesn't smell like real soap at all.
"Pure Soap" smells like any cheap soap syndet, meaning a soap made from purely synthetic detergents and additives. I can catch a whiff of Ambroxan and indeed I keep smelling Verbena in between. I've used such a liquid hand wash several times before.
The scent of "Pure Soap" is subtle, as a hand soap's should be.
In order to compare it with "pure soap," it would need to be defined what is actually meant by "pure soap."
That would be it with "Pure Soap"!

Since the fragrance is now hard to find, I spontaneously took a blind buy. And it's a lovely clean scent! Not overpowering.

A random inexpensive soap syndet - a bit of Ambroxan - occasionally some Verbena. Smells like my liquid hand soap.

I really wanted to try it and was very disappointed. It smells trivial and was gone after about 30 min.

Fresh, soapy. I find the scent pleasant and suitable for everyday use, but not special. Not bad for the price. Sillage/moderate.

Reminds me of childhood soap, similar to pure soap. It really makes you smell clean.

I get more of a fabric softener vibe here, not soap. Reminds me of Lefko/Sun Bleached.
