The return of Faust - A classic comes of age
The eau de toilette (EDT) has secured itself a firm place in the perfume world. However, opinions on it vary widely - from "shower gel king" to "solid everyday companion", everything is represented. Overall, the EDT does not enjoy a particularly good reputation in the perfume community. But does the eau de parfum (EDP) now offer a possible turnaround?
The fragrance of the EDP starts fresh and citrusy, slightly sweet and with a subtle leather note. Overall, the mix is rather simple and unagitated. The citrus freshness remains in the foreground, while the leather resonates in the background. For my taste, there could have been more leather. This leather note gives the fragrance a more grown-up, more interesting note without becoming too dominant.
In terms of suitability for everyday use, the EDP is convincing: whether office or leisure - the fragrance blends in well everywhere. It is unobtrusive, but still has a certain independence. Yes, a certain "shower gel-ness" cannot be denied - but that was to be expected in this segment. The EDP does not want to be a niche star, but a mass-compatible fragrance.
