Milder flanker of the original
This is indeed a paler version of the original Hypnotic Poison.

All that bold vanilla and play-dough has been taken away and replaced with soft florals and subdued vanilla. They perhaps made the original more wearable and casual, however in my opinion they made it boring.

Hypnotic Poison was never my favourite in the Poison series, I much preferred the richer Poison, Midnight Poison and Tendre Poison. To make a lighter version of any of those three fragrances would be an outrage, why did they assume that making a softer version of Hypnotic Poison was going to be well-received?

I'm a young woman that likes to make a statement with the fragrances I choose to wear. Hypnotic Poison eau Sensuelle is neither head-turning or overly sensual in my opinion. I would wear this fragrance perhaps as a bed-time scent or to a picnic in the park.

The sillage is extremely intimate and soft, and the lasting power, while satisfactory, could have lasted a little longer.

In conclusion all I can say is for those that like to wear bold fragrances, stick to the original. For those shy perfume wearers, Hypnotic Poison eau Sensuelle could be the perfect scent for you, especially if you found the original to be too strong.

Toxic Caraway Sister
It has happened. For the very first time, a fragrance has made me feel nauseous. I always thought this was an exaggeration by others, but now I know for myself that it actually exists. I love the regular HP, but at the moment I can't stand my winter scents well, and even HP feels too powerful for me right now. That's why I swapped for a decant of Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle. This scent is supposed to be lighter than HP, but also more FLORAL. That should have warned me, but I still wanted to try it.

Well, and thus began the disaster. I think it could (once again) be the combination of Jasmine/Ylang Ylang/Orange Blossom that almost always turns into a disaster for me. That alone would probably have been enough to cause me significant discomfort. But what really takes the cake (which is obviously reserved for ME alone!) is the caraway in this version, which I can distinctly smell compared to the original, and which underscores the floral overkill in a way that gives my royal nose the final blow.

Right upon spraying, I already feel the scent prickling in my nose, but I still think hopefully that it will surely settle down soon. But the only one who settles down is me, and that’s down! Unfortunately, it doesn't get better. After about an hour, the vanilla appears, which I would have loved to embrace. But it lingers somewhere far in the background and doesn’t dare to come forward… Eau Sensuelle smells so intrusive, toxic, and piercing on me that I first get a headache and then feel a significant nausea, so much so that I actually have to wash it off. I like (almost) all Poisons, but this one truly lives up to its name. Only the "Sensuelle" is misleading! (By the way, my decant is intact and definitely not spoiled!)

I am flabbergasted, as I really did not expect something like this from an HP flanker. The regular HP smells so completely different on me, so soft, warm, vanilla-like, simply wonderful, and it has so far been the biggest compliment magnet for me. But this version is simply horrendous on me. And beware, this is by no means a LIGHT fragrance! It absolutely packs a punch.

I envy everyone for whom Eau Sensuelle develops beautifully. But I simply cannot tolerate it, and therefore I do not want to rate it. Because on the right wearer, it might indeed smell good. It’s already out of the line-up. I’m not sad about that.

A few days ago, I had a leftover sample of Eau Secreté under my nose. I liked it better because it seemed much more pleasant and softer to me. But I think I’d rather stick with the original - if necessary, in homeopathic doses. And now let me lie on my couch and hand me a spittoon and smelling salts…

My Death by Dior
Hello!

May I introduce myself? My name is Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle and I am the younger sister of my somewhat prickly sister HP. Our dad is Dior. I’m not even a year old yet, and I’ve already managed to conquer many noses and hearts. Both women and men love me.

At some point, I realized that I don’t just have friends. What some love about me, others hate. This initially confused me. I can understand my older sister’s outrage and how she almost poisons those who don’t like her. I’m doing the same now. After all, this way I get the attention I deserve.

I smell very strong; one must learn how to handle me, and those who can’t will be punished. But not just them, everything within a kilometer radius. Those who know how to treat me will be rewarded. However, I’m not one to make it easy for everyone. I specifically choose the people on whom I shine. If someone’s skin doesn’t suit me, I’ll stink them up. They get a full dose of sickly sweet orchid bathing in vanilla. So concentrated that the wearer either faints or feels nauseous. My current victim wants to remain anonymous but has been wrinkling her nose and airing out her apartment for quite some time. Therefore, she is not chosen. Tough luck. To be really mean, I waited to release my stink bomb until the victim almost thought I was great. She came very close to me and then - BANG - she got hit. HAHA! That’s what she gets. I heard her talking about me and some of my siblings. She doesn’t like us. I’ll tell my dad.

Edit:
I, Mari, have regained consciousness. This beast really packs a punch. The 3 seconds before I felt sick, I thought the scent was great; I would almost give it full marks. The action afterward I find utterly despicable, clearly a red card and a lifetime ban from entering Mari-Land. Or at least until she apologizes and promises to improve...

Seduction
Oh, this wonderful, red, bitter almond heartbreaker - how I hate him. And I love him, no, I am in love, and thoroughly so. Against my will, against my conviction, and at the cost of my credibility here at Parfumo AND in the perfumery of my trust, where I previously mocked him with great conviction and (seemingly in full possession of my mental faculties) practically insulted him as a freeloader of damnation - equating Eau Sensuelle with his big brother Hypnotic Poison, which had spread so much radical heaviness and sweet, plastic-like artificiality on my skin during an innocent test that it almost turned my stomach.

It seemed to be the same at the beginning with the current hypnotic offspring. When I tested it (on a paper strip AND my skin, very clever) and immediately became aware of the family resemblance that was simply undeniable due to the unmistakable bitter almond opening, I was filled with great fear of plastic overkill and unfortunately could not follow the further development. Instead, the scent was brutally scrubbed off (amid curses) - accompanied by the intention of never ever sniffing at red, spherical flacons again, which already warn of their toxicity in advance. Meanwhile, the paper strip flew into the infinite depths of one of my bags and was not seen again for the time being.

I would probably still think this way about Eau Sensuelle if it weren't for the fact that the next morning the aforementioned paper strip reappeared when I changed bags once again. Interestingly, I didn't even remember at first which scent I was inhaling with growing greed... but it was enchanting! Soft almond, underlaid with vanilla and a hint of creamy orchid and sandalwood, wonderfully present, simultaneously wild and gentle, and bitter and somehow... ah! Because the almond in question was by no means a common one, but definitely a BITTER almond, confusion was out of the question, and I had to admit to myself, as my brain overcame this hurdle, that this little brother of the old enemy - at least on paper and after a considerable while - was indeed a little sensation.

After two days of fruitless pondering, I returned to the perfumery. Pretending to want to test other scents. Discreetly sprayed Eau Sensuelle on my wrist again. Went outside and consciously and with all my senses let the scent unfold in its entirety (and this time with less fear), WITHOUT scrubbing it off. Result: Yes, the test strip was right! The show-off of bitter almond naturally made its sensational appearance again. But then: warm ylang-ylang flowers and an orchid that vaguely reminds me of Euphoria, yet is fuller and simultaneously gentler (vanilla orchid?), bring together with heliotrope softness and expansive fullness, while the tuberose (normally a bombshell that seeks its equal) diplomatically bridges the gap between bitter scratchiness and gentle sweetness - so that Eau Sensuelle is indeed still "toxic" enough to command respect, yet has a charm that one simply wants to succumb to. *Sigh*

In contrast to the original Hypnotic Poison, there is also less nose-numbing sweetness in the further development of the scent here and - attention to all fans of the original - NO trace of that characteristic rubber accord anymore. Instead, there is much more floral quality and structure, yet without slipping into the ordinary and trivial. The spicy-soft sandalwood creates, together with the other more bitter spice notes, a finely crafted contrast to the now loudly celebrating entourage of the (yes, okay, really great) bitter almond; everything is so perfectly balanced and still dramatically and sensually overwhelming in typical HP manner that one gets the impression that Eau Sensuelle is indeed the polished, refined version of the classic. Softer and rounder - and at least just as hypnotic. As a base, there is finally this unique and unforgettable mélange of dark, bitter almond and deeply sweet vanilla, which together with the gentle echo of orchid makes this red wonder so seductive and (perhaps this is a disadvantage) absolutely recognizable again... but I take that risk, yes.

The knowing look and mild smile of the saleswoman as I (clearly flooded with happiness hormones) carry this treasure to the checkout give me the distinct feeling that I have just become the unwitting victim of a cleverly orchestrated hypnosis, yes, a veritable planned seduction. No matter, I am now happy with him! And what saying did I read recently?

"When the path is beautiful, let us not ask where it leads."

Detoxed, dusted, and tied into a bouquet
Eau Sensuelle is another Poison fragrance that I am now testing. After the rather (for me) mediocre Poison Girl, I expect a scent here with Eau Sensuelle that is more similar to the original Hypnotic Poison and thus of higher quality. Let's see how the fragrance is, as I have read that Eau Sensuelle is supposed to be a lighter version of HP...

The scent:
The scent starts off quite floral, but not stuffy because of that (I mention this because most floral fragrances seem stuffy to me). It comes across as slightly loose and even a bit diluted or greenish. You can smell a hint of sweet jasmine, followed by a faint almond that doesn't smell nearly as intense (and good) as in the original Hypnotic Poison.
The jasmine and almond gradually become stronger, and you can also detect some of the Hypnotic Poison DNA. Because here, roses and other floral notes come into play again, but this time they do not get overshadowed immediately by a strong almond and vanilla. The floral notes are more present and therefore can be enjoyed for a while, together with the mentioned almond. The vanilla has also been toned down, so it is really only present in small amounts, which prevents the scent from appearing too powdery. However, it is also the case here that the almond fades first while the vanilla lingers a bit longer.

Longevity and sillage:
The longevity can hardly compete with other HP fragrances. It is indeed detectable on the skin for several hours, but since its projection is significantly lower, it will come across as weak most of the time (or from a certain point on) and therefore may not really stand out to others unless they are standing right next to the wearer. I find it hard to believe it lasts more than six to eight hours...

The bottle:
The bottle is almost identical to the well-known HP bottle, except that the glass seems clearer and brighter. You can also see the familiar apple shape here. The neck is gold-plated, and the cap is dark red and slightly translucent. The name is printed directly on the front, with no label. Everything is nicely done as always. However, it can be confused with the regular HP. Still, it is very beautiful.

One could actually consider the scent as a light version of Hypnotic Poison, a truly light light light version. The HP DNA is present, as jasmine and almond can be smelled here, but then the fragrance drifts a bit too much into floral territory.

The scent might appeal to many, especially if they find HP too intense. For me, it is a tad too light, making it seem slightly diluted, which I don't find bad in itself, but it is also a bit too floral. Thus, it is no longer really an evening fragrance, but can be better used as a daytime scent, especially on warmer days in spring and summer.

However, I suspect that the scent will not stand out much to anyone, so those who want to come across as somewhat sweet should look for another fragrance. This one is simply not intrusive. But don't let my rating of 7.5 points unsettle you; it could very well appeal to most people, as my rating was influenced by the floral notes that I found too overwhelming.

Lightly sexy as a deep red veil on your skin:the almond note is only suggested, never shouted, giving way to a wonderful floral bouquet.

The wearable sister of HP - the base of HP is definitely recognizable, it carries the heavy florals. A loss that it has been discontinued!

Reminds me of a classic, fresher. I notice the rose and HP Edp., later ylang-ylang with vanilla and a hint of leather! The orchid?
