EAU ROSE by Diptyque

Breathtakingly beautiful Rose. Opens with a rush of bittersweet bergamot and juicy tart vine-ripe black currants followed immediately with a saturating flood of soft, tropical, delicately sweet litchi fruit. A pristinely fresh and glorious rose makes her entrance among the sparkling lemony threads of dewy-green geranium, which provides a zesty citric strength and additional support to the principal rose scent itself.

A subdued non-indolic jasmine woven throughout provides an extra touch of sweetly refined floral complexity without intruding on the precedence of the roses. A warm, clean cedar houses the entire creation beautifully, while a cozy white musk adds a delicate hint of tender sensuality. A fascinatingly delectable drop of honey infuses just a trace of voluptuously natural silken sweetness with complexity and depth.

The Rose here is poised gracefully between the refreshing cool vivid clarity of the Black Currant/Geranium, and the sumptuously smooth warm sweetness of the Litchi/Jasmine. The perfect balance achieved here between the pull of these four exceptionally contrasting elements, both of which are supportive of the Rose, yet diametrically opposed to each other, is what makes this composition a unique masterpiece. It is both simple and extremely refined. The myriad of subtle, elegant nuances woven within and throughout the strands of this scent tapestry succeed brilliantly.

This is exquisitely beautiful. Perhaps the most beautiful rose I have ever smelled on my skin. Sublime beauty personified in scent. I love this one completely and utterly.

Beautiful rose water with a soapy dry down

This is such a beautiful and green rose that dries down to a clean, soapy scent. The opening is so bright and beautiful, it completely drew me in and made me keep smelling my wrist to get deeper and deeper into the scent. Unfortunately, the full bouquet of rose only lasts about 30 minutes before fading to a soft soapy smell. Don't get me wrong; it's a very nice clean scent on the dry down but it just doesn't compare to the opening. It's probably my own fault considering Eau Rose= Rose Water, but please!! Give me more rose and less water!!

If someone were to ask me about what a rose would ideally smell like then it would be Eau Rose. From the initial scent from the bottle, it embodies the rich, luxurious smell of a rose. It is a mature scent that I feel would suit everyday wear, perhaps my nose is not sophisticated enough, but I was surprised to see lychee as a note. True, there is a sweetness that lingers, but to me, this is a pure rose scent.

Eau Rose is a Fresh Whisper of Petals

This isn't your grandmother’s powdery rose, nothing heavy or old-fashioned. Eau Rose by Diptyque is fresh, juicy, and modern, like walking through a blooming rose garden while sipping berry tea. It reminds me of a Rose Petal Confit from France, very light, a little sweet, cool, fresh, and playful. I’d call it a hybrid tea rose, soft, delicate, refreshing, and pure, with a gentle floral breeze. There’s a fruity brightness in the beginning, like lychee and berries, but it never overpowers the rose, it just lifts it. I love it!

Purely pretty

Eau Rose EDT smells like small, pink roses freshly picked and strewn over a bowl of water - it's very fresh, sweet (without being jammy or saccharine), and unlikely to offend anyone. What I appreciate about it in particular is that it maintains its perky, full-figured character all the way through and never turns sour. I hate sourness in a rose , or excessive greenness.

The litchi and blackcurrant add a juicy fruitiness that tickles the tongue, and the geranium a hint of cool minty leafiness that plays nicely against the sweet, pink rosiness. In the dry down, there's a quiet (white) honey and musk combo forming a cushion under the fruity rose, and it all feels quite natural and solid. Although ultimately a little too simple for my tastes, Eau Rose would be an excellent starter rose for anyone (well, honestly probably just those of the female persuasion) who wants a true rose without any greenery, woods, oud, or heavy gourmand notes to sully its purity. I suspect that it would also be brilliant for layering.
