Goodbye aldehydes, hello magnolia!
As an avid lover of Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum, I kind of had mixed feelings about this EDT release because I wasn’t sure how they were going to take such a unique floral-musk and not only tone it down, but give it its own novelty.

I tested the EDT out in the store recently and from first spray, I was met with that beautiful and familiar, iris-musk-ambrette of the original. It was when I left the store with the blotter card that made me go, “oh wow, they are different!” After about 5-10 minutes of settling, Fleur de Peau Eau de Toilette blossoms with a prominent magnolia flower that I don’t believe exists at all in the original. You also get a burst of citrus that again, is not found in the original. I often associate the EDP with coldness and melancholy, but I get quite the opposite from the EDT. It’s brighter, more floral dominant, and feels more joyous. It also feels more “fresh” as it’s missing the earthiness that the original has.

I didn’t think my love for Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum could grow even deeper, but that’s exactly what Fleur de Peau Eau de Toilette has done. Is it necessary to have both in your collection? Probably not. But if you couldn’t get with the carrot and aldehydes in the original, it’s worth it to give the EDT a shot. I’m still deciding on whether or not I need to add it to my collection, but I’m glad I tried it and I’m happy that I like it. Would be interested to see if they release a similar flanker for Orphéon Eau de Parfum next!

EDT (crisp) vs EDP (velvety)
I've heard a lot about the huge differences between Dyptique's EDT and EDP versions. So, being a Fleur de Peau EDP lover as I am, I bought the EDT version instantly and compare them both side by side.

So here I am, trying both on each wrist just to compare them.

EDP is darker and deeper, dustier. While EDT is brighter. Both have the same "veggie-carrot-y" background, but where EDP enhances it, the EDT pushes it to the back, bringing to the front a musky-flower profile thay reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez's line or Lazy Sunday Morning.

EDP is warmer, cozier and more grown up. Smells cleans but in a new furniture way, with the clean profile of new wood. EDT is lighter, more uplifting. The cleanliness comes from a floral perfume used just after a bath. Both have its similarities, you can tell they are siblings. The older one is serious and elegant, and the younger one is carefree and pretty. Having them both I realise that I may not need two bottles of Fleur de Peau, since the EDP and EDT are quite similar. BUT I will use both, because these two, despite being siblings, have theirnown personality. EDT is crisp, for summer and spring and EDP is velvety, for autumn and winter.

The longevity is similar. Both stay DAYS on clothes and have moderate projection on the skin.

Freeze dried iris
Opens with a sharp hit of lipstick that quickly develops into freeze dried irises with a bit of sweetness from the magnolia that mellows it out (the magnolia in this smells like a white floral with a hint of that pink blush that some magnolia petals have. I'm not sure if magnolia can be extracted as an aroma chemical, but they captured it very well as a background component here. Very silky and lightly sweet).

It's icy florals with a white musk base that supports the whole as a sort of creamy anchor. I can't pinpoint the mandarin in this but I assume it might just be expressed in a sort of acidity/juiciness.

Fun textural experience here that stands out even more so than just the florals which by themselves might not have been very exciting. A wonderful everyday perfume even on colder days despite the pyramid suggesting something more spring like.

Baby powder? Floral for floral-haters
This is my first sample ever. I haven't tried any other fragrances before it so I'm not really familiar with a lot of the notes I was smelling. My first day impression of the fragrance was that there were some flower smells, something of a self-care product and an overall projection of my skin's natural odor. After reviewing some descriptions, I could pin-point these notes as the iris note, musk, and powder. Iris isn't really like other flowers I know. It's refreshing like grape koolaid?? I asked how it smelled to my friends and they said it smells motherly and something you'd smell on a put-together woman.

In colder weather, the fragrance pushes more waxy citrus-like notes. This was probably the magnolia I heard others talk about! I personally get more nose-blind when it gets colder but it still has the same projection to my friends.

edit 1: I found it smells best for me if I spray it 6 inches or more from the skin. The bottle atomizer has enough pressure that it can spray that far. At any closer distance, more of the alcohol smell is present, giving a sharp unpleasant body.

The projection is quite good! With a spray on both wrists and one on the neck, people within 6 feet behind you can definitely smell it.

edit 2: It's mid-December and it's harder to enjoy the scent. The Iris has mainly turned dusty. The other notes are still doing their thing smelling good though.

edit 3: In late December, the iris has turned really dusty. It's not massively pleasant but I hope it turns beautiful again in the summer. I've been keeping my bottle in a cool dark place so I really feel like this is an effect of the season.

Oh no, please not…!
Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum was my first expensive fragrance. The first one that made me forget my “I would never spend so much money on PERFUME!” completely. Unfortunately, my family does not share this love. “What smells like mothballs here?” and “Mom, you kind of smell” have led me to wear Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum only when I am alone - a true, real love that doesn’t just have to move out.

When I found out that there would be an Eau de Toilette version, it was clear: I have to have it!

Today, Fleur de Peau Eau de Toilette arrived, and full of expectations, I treated myself to two sprays on my arm.
Oh no. Please not. What is this? It’s scratchy and somehow musty. My God, I think I'm getting a headache.
Well, wonderful.
Is this supposed to be the scent I’ve been looking forward to?

No, that’s not it yet.
The scratchy mustiness disappears quickly. The headache isn’t coming after all.

Does it lack the depth of Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum?
Yep.
And is the iris not as present?
Yep.
Is that bad?
Not at all!

You get a very nice, light skin scent here that is still not boring.
A dreamy fairy scent, delicate, clean, without sweetness.

I think I just love them both!
And no one has told me today that I smell.

A fresh, acidic floral melange with a starchy base that almost surpasses its predecessor in every way. Best in class, truly a work of art.

On paper it smells like a fresher version of the EDP but on my skin it smells exactly like baby wipes :( I recommend sampling before buying!

Fresh clean laundry with a floral touch. A bit strong for me but you will definitely smell clean with this on.

I love both the Edp and the Edt - the drydown is exactly the same on my skin, the opening is a bit lighter in the Edt version.

Great dry iris in the opening.
Tissues fluttering
Drifts briefly into the mundane with magnolia and musk.
All's well that ends well.

I love iris root: matte and powdery, brightened by citrus notes, slightly spicy and delicately floral: a pale glow.

I find it better than the EdP. Bright fresh iris powder-musk scent with a delicate spice. Easy-to-wear, that's what they call it today.

Great iris intro, briefly reminds me of Dior. A floral magnolia dream with pure musk note, less peppery than the EdP.
