If bubblebaths came in basil version..
Incredibly green fresh soapy basil. Gives the same fresh feel that a pine bubblebath gives off, if these bubblebaths came in basil version ;)
Beautifully herbally clean scent. The Clean series have found their superior in this one, big time!
The herbal with the basil grows stronger and stronger to the point of being "basil-y camphorous" in the end.
A must for summer :)

Kümmel Dir Einen
Virgilio is the more perfect Devin (Aramis). Today I compared both candidates side by side; and lo and behold, apart from the cedar, they only resemble each other in the potato-digestive-boosting, small, silly caraway seeds that no one likes to bite into. But I believe those are not really meant here. Either it’s the essential oils of the fruit, meaning the seeds, whose composition consists of carvone and limonene, myrcene, phellandrene, cymol, caryophyllene, cis- and trans-carveol, cis- and trans-dihydrocarvone, and trans-dihydrocarveol (of which I hardly smell anything), or it refers to the juice of the root or the leaves. I don’t know either, but I lean towards the latter and add: caraway is a divine plant. So far, no spice has captivated me as much. Cinnamon, sugar, and sawdust can only refine this pleasant scent. The main role in this cozy, warm, green perfume is always played by the anti-bloating drug caraway... but who really cares about that.

Igraine, thank you very much for the insight and the sample!
I would love to toast with you sometime!

Meadow Pesto
The name "Virgilio" always reminds me a bit of salad oil, and the salad association is not too far-fetched. Virgilio is green - it couldn't be greener. The overwhelmingly dominant note is basil. Not the really fresh basil, chopped into pesto in a blender, but the softer and quite pleasant, hay-like, aniseed scent of essential basil oil. This note is somewhat of an acquired taste, and you should like it if you want to enjoy Virgilio.

The cumin note is also distinctly identifiable, but it harmoniously blends into the green herbal infusion even for me, a cumin hater. I think I can also smell something bitter-herbaceous like wormwood and chervil or tarragon - definitely heavy aromatic and very spicy, with a slightly minty-fresh aspect as the scent develops. If you don't sniff too closely, the fragrance strongly resembles a freshly mown wild herb meadow - grass green without colorful flowers - where the hay dries in the blazing sun. The green front of the herbs gradually makes way for a timid cedar and earthy vetiver in the drydown, but remains steadfast forever. Wood and earth have little to say here; the digestive herbs have everything firmly in their grip.

For me, Virgilio is suitable for not-so-hot summer days and autumn. I think it's a bit too extravagant for the office, but a lovely scent for unwinding and leisure.

As far as I know, Virgilio is no longer in production, but it is still available in some places abroad. In my opinion, it is an absolute must-try for green enthusiasts before it disappears completely. Everyone else might see it more as something great for marinating the Sunday roast or whipping up a vinaigrette :)
