Sweet tobacco relic
Tobacco was to Dunhill what leather was to Hermès; cigarettes and lighters were a mainstay of the brand. (And, by coincidence, Alfred Dunhill was the son of a riding tack manufacturer.)
So it’s no surprise to find an approximation of baccy in this sweet spicy woods with a dark brown colour value. Aromatic and citrus remnants are there but have clearly faded in my ancient mini, which has a screw cap that looks like compressed cork inside, although it could be tobacco stem fibre or Bakelite for all I know.
There’s nothing too refined about it, but it does have an air of vintage - with the rubber note of Knize Ten making a cameo; and the smiling, avuncular, line drawn adverts of old coming to mind: pipe and slippers; but this time without the cherry flavour that marked Chergui so strongly.
By today’s hyper-aggressive standards uncle London is a sap, James Stuart in the Wild West town full of bad guys, old fashioned values in a topsy-turvy world.
Pity he was selling cancer sticks...
