Escada Plörre deluxe as Nerve Balm
This sounds much more negative than it is meant to be. Island Kiss smells like a typical Escada summer fragrance. Those who like it will find it great. Those who don't, simply won't.
I smell a slightly sour tropical fruit salad here. Mango and passion fruit are somewhat prominent. With a background note that reminds me a bit of raspberry gum. The colder the weather, the more I perceive this gum note. Generally, the scent develops better in summer. The floral notes are then more noticeable. Now in winter, unfortunately, I don't notice any of that. Overall, the scent feels a bit dull now. In summer, it is fresher and more intense.
The sandalwood-musk base is very subtle. Furthermore, the raspberry now smells a bit less like gum, but becomes increasingly dominant and surprisingly not sweet towards the end. Actually quite sour. I really like that. Although Island Kiss has a bit of a sugary fruit compote vibe, it never becomes overly sweet. And the slightly sour raspberries in the base just seem all the more original. Overall, I don't really smell a lot of what is supposedly in the fragrance pyramid. But I definitely have the 2004 version. It might be due to its age.
In terms of longevity and intensity, Island Kiss far surpasses the newer Escada summer fragrances. The sillage is not overwhelming, but the scent easily lasts all day.
By the way, I don't know the newer version. However, if you enjoy bright fruity summer fragrances and have the opportunity to test this version, you should definitely do so. But only in summer.
I wore this scent for the first time when I had my first date with my husband. Or rather, when I first traveled to France to see him. It was a damn humorless odyssey. I had to struggle with unreliable rides and trains... Almost blind and not fluent in French. But I was already convinced back then that he was the right one. And I wanted to impress him by taking the initiative and just going to see him. Visually impaired or not. Of course, I was still a bundle of nerves, but Island Kiss was a good companion. The scent feels cheeky and confident, just like I would have liked to feel that day. But on the other hand, it also radiates a calm cheerfulness. And when I was about to lose it because the driver stood me up or I didn't understand the lady at the counter, Island Kiss still brought a relaxed smile to my face.
It's always the same with Escada summer fragrances. You really have to like this kind of thing. And you should know what to expect when testing it. It will be flashy and squeaky and sweet and fruity and cheeky and colorful. If you can't or don't want to get into that, you shouldn't even test it because disappointment is pre-programmed.
