To avoid any confusion due to the name and the title (sorry, the Potterhead just couldn't help it): where Lily is written, only partially is Lily inside.
FOR: the German lily becomes the English 'Lily'... so far so good... the German lily of the valley becomes the cute 'Lily of the valley' - perhaps because the little bell was biologically classified earlier in the family of lilies (Liliaceae)? Nowadays, however - friends of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, pay attention - it is classified under the ASPARAGUS family (Asparagaceae).
Be that as it may - those who are looking forward to lily will be disappointed, as here the lily of the valley along with jasmine is the main actor.
To make the confusion complete, there is the scent
Lily of the Valley in the Floris house, which reads almost identically in the pyramid except for the citrusy top note. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to get a sample for a 1:1 comparison. If I manage that, the review will be supplemented with a direct comparison.
I find
Lily to be quite linear. With the 'dew drops', I briefly considered whether I should feel mocked - next up is somewhere 'whiff of air'... Our little cheat-lily offers soft jasmine, fresh lily of the valley including a bit of green foliage on cuddly musk with a cedar garnish. It's nothing groundbreaking new but is beautifully soft and harmoniously composed, no headache, it wraps me in a white-green floral scarf and feels very feminine and elegant. The scent remains dominated by the white flowers.
Lily reminds me a lot of
Viper Green, just a bit softer and not quite as green. Viper Green has an 80/20 ownership distribution and I see Floris' Lily more for women and not really for men. I would classify 'Lily' as a spring and early summer scent. Well, on the island, summer is usually not as hellish as in some parts of Germany, which should result in a longer wearing period.
The bottle is classically simple, very heavy, high-quality, and elegant. The name of the scent is also embossed on the side of the bottle... really pretty!
And to close the circle back to the title: the husband sniffed and made a face, he and lily of the valley will probably never be friends in this life. A slightly pained "Do you still think that devil's stuff is so good?" gasping, he only half heard my softly murmured answer: "Always..."
