WTF, Floris?!
... not another franchise, was my first reaction to "007". Floris is one of the oldest perfume houses in the world and now a cheap marketing stunt? What's next, a Marvel series from Floris?
On the other hand, Floris was awarded the status of Purveyor to the Royal Court back in 1820. The list of public figures who have worn Floris fragrances is long. These include Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, who mentioned the perfume house several times in his books. With some benevolence, Floris can therefore be said to have a certain legitimacy in dedicating a fragrance to the spy who acts "in the name of His Majesty".
Floris has thus created a fragrance with the perfume "007", which is intended to capture the character of James Bond in olfactory form. To be honest, the sentence pains me. How much easier it is for me to write that the fragrance is intended to embody a style-conscious, equally masculine gentleman who appreciates elegance and understatement.
The fragrance starts unsurprisingly with fresh and citrusy notes, which are given a special liveliness by a subtle spiciness. Earthy tones echo in the background, lending depth to the bergamot and orange opening.
An elegant composition of warm wood and subtle floral accents unfolds in the heart. A successful balance between masculine power and stylish lightness. Notes of lavender and violet give the fragrance a classic but unobtrusive aura, while it is rounded off with the softness of sandalwood and cedarwood. A hint of pepper and nutmeg adds a certain spice.
Finally, the base notes ensure a long-lasting presence. Warm tones of amber and musk lend the fragrance a touch of elegance and strength. The fragrance stays close to the skin for hours and gives its wearer an aura of self-confidence and sophistication. I would wish for a little more presence.
With "007", Floris has created a fragrance that combines British tradition with a modern, cosmopolitan world. It is not overly daring, but still expressive enough to make an impression. As wearable as the fragrance is, the name remains unspeakable for me - I wouldn't want to wear a perfume in this price category with the name of a drugstore fragrance.
