unwashed but expensive?

Sometimes you smell certain gentlemen on the bus or train who smell very similar to this fragrance. Based on their appearance, I had always assumed that these gentlemen simply neglected their personal hygiene. But perhaps my knowledge of human nature is failing me and in reality the gentlemen are wearing such expensive fragrances as PM, by Fragrance du Bois.

Obviously, a philistine like me can neither understand nor enjoy this fragrance.

The fragrance smells soo strongly of cumin and leather to me - a really spicy, unpleasant combination that I wouldn't want to smell on anyone.

Despite everything, I find the fragrance quite balanced overall. It gives off an overall tone without too much frills. The spicy notes give the fragrance a clear warmth, while the leather adds a cool undertone. It doesn't seem synthetic but rather "human" and makes the fragrance more approachable than, for example, "Not a perfume" - Juliette has a gun.

Abrasive Personality

PM smells like the music industry in the 80s, at least for the first hour. Cocaine and smoke. Ironically inspired by a music producer or collaboration rather. Upon the opening there is this bitter sweet, ash-like, smoky leather; only slightly metallic. Reminiscent of TF Tuscan Leather and Byredo's Black Saffron, but turned up a few notches. This particular note allows very little room for other notes to shine outside of cardamom, patchouli and woody accords. 3-4 hours in, the floral notes are more detectable, but still leather dominant while moving into a powdery phase. There is a freshness of juniper felt in the late stages of wear as well. PM is quite masculine and intrusive, if that's your thing and could very well be worn by a woman. Well made and performed, but it's going to require an abrasive personality or much confidence to pull this one off.

Interior of a Bentley / Rolls Royce

While people think Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum smells like cocaine...this REALLY smells like cocaine.

Bentleys and Rolls-Royces smell dizzyingly like leather. Less expensive cars smell more like a a mix of leather, rubber mats, carpet and plastic. Fragrance Du Bois Producer Michael smells like the former, and it doesn't just smell like, it's identical.

Most people are familiar with what new car smell is, but for ultra high end cars that's a very different thing. Rolls Royce will use 12-15 full bull hides for the interior of a single car, and you get an absolute overdose of leather and that's exactly what this smells like.

One of the most convincing leathers I've ever smelled, it's extremely potent, and I find this one to be headache inducing. It smells rich, but feels like a bit too much of a novelty smell than something you want to walk around smelling like.

For those without a Bentley or Rolls Royce...it would make for a good interior spray of your car if you want that luxurious new car smell.
