Sweet & Creamy Caramel Dessert
Sticky, gooey caramel topping on creamy vanilla ice cream cum biscuity banoffee pie.

This lingered in my room hours after I'd been there and my friend asked if I'd been wearing Prada Candy. They are certainly similar.
I find Prada Candy rather "refined" and "sophisticated" (with its violet/rose/iris, tangerine hints and benzoin overload) while I find Sun di Gioia quite "playful" and "fun", not to mention stronger, sweeter, and boasting a touch more sillage than Candy.

I do not smell frangipani in this. I was disappointed by this fact at first, but I love this caramel and ice cream, biscuity cheesecake combo so much that I no longer mind.

There is a fresh floral scent lurking beneath, which shows through more as this wears on. I enjoy it, though I can't see it as frangipani; I would say it leans more toward ylang and iris.

My main qualm with this scent is that it only seems to last for around three hours on me.
(EDIT - OK, having given this a fair chance to shine, I found that this can last all day, i.e an average eau de parfum amount of time: I wore it from 12-6 and it was still there, albiet delicately so and with only very little projection. I could still smell it. What surprised me at this point was that I could smell the frangipani! On my skin it is in the base! Ah...! Yes, still smells lovely after six hours.)

I love this scent.

I personally believe this would sit nicely in the collection of those who're fans of Prada Candy, Alien Essence Absolue, and/or Lolita Lempicka's Elle L'aime.

The bottle and ad campaign are strangely similar to the bottle and ad campaign for DUNE by Dior, though they smell absolutely nothing alike, both invoke reminiscence of bygone Summer days.

Warm floral
A warm floral, a little tropical, a little sweet, extremely summery. If you’re looking for a summer scent that doesn’t smell like sunscreen or a fruity cocktail (no disrespect to those scents, I love them myself), this is it. Wearable, light, with an intimate sillage and, unfortunately, terrible lasting power, which has been my experience with the entire di Gioia line.

Whatever floats your boat ...
A few years ago, during my internship at a high school in Wolfsburg, I wore the same fragrance every day (today I would coolly refer to it as a “Signature Scent”), namely “Acqua di Gioia.” I even bought the fragrance again and used up two large bottles over the two years. At that time, I had hardly engaged with fragrances, but I had owned perfumes since I was 14, mainly drugstore scents from Esprit, etc., but also a few from Armani, Hugo Boss, and so on. The world of niche fragrances had not yet opened up to me. During those two years, I was frequently complimented on “Acqua di Gioia,” always positively. It seemed very suitable for school, not intrusive, well-groomed, fresh - wonderful.

My then-partner saw it a bit differently. He didn’t particularly like the scent and was already involved with perfume at that time, often visiting the Parfumo website. And somehow, he got me hooked. Today, years later, I own almost no mainstream or drugstore fragrances anymore. My collection has steadily grown since then; I’ve had a lot under my nose and on my skin, and I’m still curious, wanting to test more, train my nose, my senses, discover new things, and further shape my taste. I fancy that I can sometimes distinctly pick out fragrance notes and clearly describe the development of certain scents; I have “favorite perfumers” and “favorite brands,” clear preferences and aversions, a penchant for edges and contours while still being wearable, and a collection that has surpassed the number 40 and can certainly be considered somewhat high-priced, although there seem to be no limits upwards. I own more perfume than I will ever use. But not enough.

During this time, not only has my collection changed, but also my perspective on the world of fragrances. I increasingly caught myself dismissing a mainstream scent that came my way as “simple,” “artificial,” “flat,” “one-dimensional,” “without development,” “annoying,” and - clearly - unwearable for me. I really couldn’t explain to myself how “something like that” could have been enough for me in the past, or even how I could have liked it. I often miss - and still miss - the extraordinary, the fine, the carefully woven, the character, a clear fragrance development, and I now also mind smelling a fragrance practically on every corner - that never bothered me before. Recently, someone offered “Sun di Gioia” at the souk for an unbeatable price, and I had to jump on it. A blind buy for very little money, and I was curious whether the resemblance to my former companion would be recognizable. And it is.

Sun di Gioia starts with a zesty bergamot that comes wrapped in a delicate floral note, immediately reminding me of “Eau Océane” and my old Acqua di Gioia. It’s the “marine notes.” Although the perfumers for Eau Océane and Sun di Gioia are different, the house, Firmenich, is the same. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Cascalone and Paradisone - "fragrance molecules developed by Firmenich that smell aquatic-fresh" - are also included here. Sun di Gioia doesn’t undergo much development. The freshness will remain, but the flowers and a hint of coconut, milky and creamy, now surround the wearer for several hours. The scent doesn’t get too sweet but remains somewhat artificial; the sillage is moderate but shouldn’t be underestimated in warmth. I wore the scent all day today and reapplied once, and I felt good, gently reminded of a time when I was not yet searching for the ever-new olfactory kick.

Sun di Gioia is for me both confirmation and admonition. Confirmation, because I realize once again: This would simply not be a 9 or 10 for me today. Too flat, too little complex, too unnatural, probably too pleasing as well. And admonition, because I like it, today, on me. Because it doesn’t cost the earth. Because it’s pleasing, thus appealing, certainly not just to me, but to people around me. Because there’s a reason why I even repurchased its sister, Acqua di Gioia, back then. To use a maritime image: Whatever floats your boat. Sun di Gioia can stay. It fits well in summer. And in my collection.

good recommendation
I am not traveling and am holding the fort here in the city during the summer.

From all corners of the world, I receive beautiful vacation photos from friends who are away.
I also want to bring a bit of vacation feeling into my garden, and a dear friend recommended Sun di Gioia to me.
Good advice, as this fragrance brings bella Italia directly into my home.

The marine notes, mixed with bergamot, remind me of the coast of Calabria.
Frangipani and jasmine embody the flower-scented Mediterranean atmosphere, with enchanting ylang in the background.
The coconut milk flows softly over my skin, like delicious sunscreen.
The sun is high in the sky and speaks Italian to me.
Dolce Vita in the coal pot!

Thank you for the good recommendation.

Pure Summer Feeling
In search of a summer fragrance, Sun di Gioia simply had to be tested. The scent pyramid practically screamed summer, and after I liked the fragrance, it was allowed to join my collection.
Sun di Gioia feels to me like a day at the beach: toes buried in warm sand ... sun-kissed skin ... letting the soul dangle ... sea breeze!
About the fragrance:
Sun di Gioia starts off really fresh, and my first thought: like a fresh breeze by the sea. That must be the maritime notes. I don’t pick out the bergamot. The Gioia becomes a bit more floral and sweeter with frangipani and jasmine. For my nose, however, it’s never too flowery. The freshness remains beautifully intact and blends well into the sweet scent profile.
With ambroxan, powdery iris, and a splash of coconut milk, Sun di Gioia transitions into the base. The fresh breeze stays, and it never becomes sticky sweet due to a fine spiciness.
I can’t complain about the longevity... it has already lasted through an 8-hour workday on me. The scent trail isn’t too strong, but it is well noticeable in the first hours.
The bottle is kept quite simple. Not everything has to be so pompous, and after all, it’s the content that counts.
Conclusion:
Sun di Gioia is pure summer feeling ... sweet-powdery, fresh like a sea breeze, not sticky with a splash of coconut milk and a bit of spice. A harmonious fragrance and for me a must-have in spring and summer.

A quite pale sun. No "fire" inside. Anyway, feminine and flowery with a creamy touch. A daily scent for the mid-hot season. Average sillage.

A safe, easy Summer reach. Pleasant but dull suntan lotion smell which is barely detectable. I prefer Replica - Beach Walk which is similar.

Light di Gioia’s beachier predecessor. Bright sunny bergamot, warm tropical flowers, and a hint of sunscreen-like coconut.

It's not a summer scent.
Very sweet, very floral, and creamy.
And then there's a hint of coconut,
even if subtle.

Sweet summer sin. Reminds me of a specific vacation. Sparkling sea and blooming bushes in the sunshine. Heavy, humid, sweet. Awesome!

One of my biggest youthful mistakes was regular tanning bed visits. After the toasting process, my UV-tanned skin smelled like "Sun di Gioia."
