Dream Garden
“The Germans didn’t buy that,” explains the nice gentleman at the Guerlain stand after correcting my pronunciation. Suffle, like the little drunk, not Suuufleee.
I’m annoyed with myself. I had tested the perfume in Wroclaw (Wrots-uaw - the l is pronounced with a little line like a quick ua, somewhat like in English well - the English say Wrots-love).
There it was available at D. And here it’s not at all? It’s not listed on the website, nor in the neighboring country. Very, very annoying, as I thought I could buy the scent at the airport in Wroclaw. Unfortunately, they didn’t have it there. And now it’s not available anywhere in Germany? Grumble.
If you look at the list of proud owners of the fragrance, they are scattered all over the world - Belgium, Romania, and Latvia, from Vietnam to Hong Kong to Australia and the USA. It seems to be available everywhere, only Guerlain-Germany didn’t buy it? Why - I had forgotten to ask the nice gentleman this question.

About the scent:
Starts with green notes. Nothing special, I thought.
But then - it’s as if it becomes bright on the wrist. The day breaks over Shalimar. White flowers unfold their fragrance. Indian jasmine enchants the senses. The air is filled with orange blossoms. A dream of a garden. Drunk on this shiny, radiant heart, it shines into my own heart and brings a smile to my face. With a rapturous smile, I walk through the world. No matter what misfortune may come, in the garden of love, it can’t harm me. The vanilla is wonderfully soft and benzoin rounds out the base, making it creamy. A cuddly scent.

And what does this have to do with the original Shalimar?
The sapphire blue bottle takes the shape of the bottle designed by Raymond Guerlain in 1925. The curves symbolize the water basins in the Shalimar gardens, and the fan-shaped stopper represents the eternal fountains.
Whoever wears Shalimar succumbs to their own sensuality - so Jacques Guerlain about the Shalimar he created. The Souffle Intense is creamier, softer, greener, and at least just as enchanting.

I seriously considered traveling to Wroc?aw again. First of all, I love the city with its open, colorful atmosphere, and secondly, they have Shalimar Souffle Intense there.
I ended up getting the scent after all - in the souk, thanks to a lovely parfuma. It will be almost a year until my next trip to Wroclaw with a visit to the Botanical and Japanese Gardens. Until then, I travel thanks to Shalimar Souffle Intense to other realms, to the garden of my dreams.

The oriental scent is wearable on cool days, more for ladies, but also for bold gentlemen. It exudes style and elegance and a sense of well-being. Opulent sensuality with an addictive factor.

The Botanical Garden of Shalimar
Surely many of the inclined readers know the story that surrounds the name Shalimar, so I will spare myself the repeated mention at this point. The fact is, Shalimar was the name of a garden in ancient India. And if it was as dreamily beautiful and rich in flowers as the legend of the love between Mumtaz Mahal and her husband suggests, then the umpteenth recreation under this melodious name, also known as a flanker in modern terms, makes sense.
For what Old Shalimar has in oriental influences and punch, Shalimar Souffle Intense has in floral splendor and oomph.
It starts off green, but that’s just how nature is. Green-floral-floral-more floral-floral to the power of 10-most white floral. That’s how it develops. What stands out particularly is a green orange blossom cream with a hint of jasmine.
After a while (about 2-3 hours), all the green disappears and it becomes soft. Soft-spicy, soft-floral, soft-creamy. Now it truly lives up to the name "Souffle." I, a glutton, may prefer chocolate souffle over floral souffle, but both smell pleasant. And we are here at Parfumo, not at Ferrero.
The long lingering of the scent on the skin is also lovely: unsweetened-spicy and still the breath of a thousand flowers in the background.
Not reinventing the Shalimar wheel, but pretty and fine.

"I want some more..."

As a proud owner of "Gerlinesischer Shalimaren," I am somewhat familiar with these as well as their descendants, or they are on the verge of becoming familiar.

On the Route to Mexico, I found an Ode to Vanilla, and the Parfum Initial, just like the "Ur-Shalimara," repeatedly transports me to its sensual dream worlds.
Thus, I couldn't help but approach the various breaths of the Souffles. The Indigo Blue Intense connected with me the most right away, leading to a Tête-à-Nez.

One thing upfront; I am relieved that it stands out from the more typical Shalimars and vice versa. Family resemblance is recognizable, the body shape emphasizes this even more, but it does not rely on their reputation. Here, it stands on its own.

Its green is fleeting, which I like,

and it continues deeply, very well chosen.

Its blue garment is velvety and heavy,

what it conceals, I like very much.

A little creature lurks hidden beneath,

one thinks to smell it, it even hisses cheerfully,

but it is the Jasmine Sambac that does this,

luckily not more, it just made it through well.

Orange water well through, Absolute,

carries all notes and celebrates them.

Syrupy and oily, indolic it unites,

for some too much, the scent quickly becomes a foe.

But patience brings roses, so it is written,

those who wait for vanilla will love "Intense."

For this one references what came before in bounds,

many a nose will thank it for that.

Rich, substantial, and powerfully sweet,

thank goodness they let her in,

for she catches what began before,

beds it softer and then lets it,

fade into dreamy swathes and veils,

some may find that too much as well.

But through this twist, the twist in the air,

Souffle Intense becomes a dreamy scent.

Those who love it balsamic and resinous,

will be amazed at what the scent gives off.

Vanilla feast in the Orient,

as one might not know it.

A magic, dream, or poem,

lies sweet and heavy before my face.

It is almost within reach for me,

I can't explain it any other way.

A soft, dense, warm bloom

and I hear myself saying: "I want some more..."

Unusual Scent Development
The soufflé surprisingly starts with a berry note, and it takes a while for the balance to shift towards floral. It is the jasmine that reveals itself. This is not a radiant, extravagant jasmine, but rather heavy, almost cloying. It seems to have already connected with the base notes, showing sweetness and hints of vanilla. It stays this way for quite some time, and I like it.

Then something happens that, as far as I remember, I have not experienced with a fragrance before: from the heavy, sweet, warm perfume, it transforms into a bright and light floral scent. I am confused; this is usually the other way around. And I am not really thrilled either. I have never encountered such a watery orange blossom. Only when I look at the fragrance pyramid again do I see that orange blossom water is indeed listed. In any case, I do not particularly like this change, even though the jasmine is still present in the background.

After a while, the scent finally turns to the base: it becomes vanilla sweet with a floral hint.

I know, this all sounds like quite a punch. But that is - at least for me - not the case. The Soufflé Intense stays quite close to the person and mostly hovers just above the skin. However, the longevity is good, lasting up to 8 hours.

Conclusion: I like Shalimar Soufflé Intense, even though I could do without the turn to orange blossom water. The bottle is the only thing that reminds me of the original Shalimar.

Déjà Vu: Jasmine Under the Orange Tree
And once again, the community has led me to add a fragrance to my wish list that would normally never have been a potential purchase candidate. It is with the greatest pleasure that I take you on a little scent journey through Shalimar Souffle Intense.
The first sniff:
This creation by Guerlain starts, as so often, with green stems and leaves. The blossoms are just about to release their naturally intoxicating scent into the air. In this scenario, imagine the white buds of jasmine, bursting with green plant sap, ready to provide energy for the development of the flowers. After a few minutes, the buds begin to open, and the innocent, virginal scent of the newborn blossom winds its way towards you. More and more buds open, including other white flowers that act very pure and solidarity-driven here.

The progression:
Shalimar Souffle Intense incorporates more and more white flowers, becoming fresher but also soapier. What surprises me here, however, is that the fresh-clean note does not bother me at all, as it is not sharp or harsh; rather, it remains femininely and sensually clean. This path lasts for about 10 minutes, until the climax is finally reached: (Perhaps this is my personal highlight, but I really like it best here)

So far, the listed vanilla is not recognizable at all, which speaks to the multidimensionality of the fragrance. And now it appears for the first time, but not alone... it is accompanied by orange blossom, one of my absolute favorites when it comes to processed flowers. If you take a closer look at the heart note of the fragrance, there is actually more orange blossom water present. To be honest, I probably can’t really tell the difference yet, but I suspect that this is the origin of the aquatic note that I do perceive here.

In any case, the white flowers, except for jasmine, increasingly fade into the background, but they never completely withdraw. Through this modest behavior of the top notes, I experience a déjà vu:
I, lying under an orange tree, beneath me the lush green grass and above me the tree laden with oranges and orange blossoms, providing me with shade from the sun. This is a vacation that I am currently experiencing. Jasmine and orange blossom are in absolute balance, with neither stealing the show from the other.
And now comes the cherry on top - Guerlain vanilla
To put it differently, in line with the dream scenario described above:
Under this shade-giving, floral-scented tree, I am sipping a creamy-cold vanilla milkshake.

I think there’s not much more to say...

Although, I could actually go on...

The longevity is impressive, lasting more than 10 hours on the skin, and the projection is abundant, which is why I will be careful with the dosage, as one spray too many could mean potential headaches for others.

Conclusion:
This is not a gourmand and not a vanilla for eating. Still, it is intoxicating and dreamy. As an absolute gourmand lover, I find it very difficult to like fluffy-clean fragrances, but I did not expect this one.

Be sure to try it out if you recognize certain similarities to your preferences!

Prefer this to the original Souffle. Stunning orange blossom and jasmine, with non-foodie vanilla. So, so stunning!

I like it way better than the EdP. It also doesn't have much to do with Shalimar but after the opening it smells like an expensive sunscreen

Nice but extremely similar to Souffle de Parfum, except more vanillic. Has vanilla cake vibes. You don’t need both.
