L'Homme Idéal Platine Privé Guerlain 2023

Like everyone else, I got very curious about these two new limited releases so I have ordered them to see how the new Guerlains are.

I have tested both and I can say that I am impressed, last time I tested a new Delphine Jelk release I was not very impressed, but now I am.

This is a scent which has for sure an inspiration in the house of Guerlain and if you know that one, you will get the association right away after spraying it.

In my collection there are two similar scents with the Platine Privé: Imagination from LV and L´Homme Ideal Cologne .. but somehow I do not feel they are redundant to own all of them, they are all great in their own way I would say.

For a scent released literally a week ago, the performance is very decent and as a first batch, I do expect it to evolve a bit in the next weeks or months. I could still smell it on my wrist after 8 hours and on the clothes it has a light silage in the lobby.

For Guerlain, this must be a winning bet, because apart from Neroli Outrenoir there are not alternatives for a nice fresh smell, please correct me if I am wrong. The Guerlain Homme EDP is nice and smells like Mojito, but will not last as long as Platinum Privé.

L'Homme Idéal Platine Privé by Guerlain is like a secret weapon in a bottle. It has a unique blend of scents that make me feel confident and sophisticated whenever I wear it. The fragrance is not too overpowering, which is perfect for daily use or special occasions. It starts with a fresh and slightly fruity top note that gradually settles into a warm and woody base. What I love most about it is its longevity; it lasts throughout the day without fading away. Overall, it's a versatile and alluring scent that's worth adding to your collection.

As someone who discovered L'Homme Ideal Cologne too late, I am thankful for this new iteration. This gem opens with a bracing and refreshingly green grapefruit. As the opening gracefully lifts away, a magically delicate and creamy almond powder emerges. The tension between bitter green and silky powder creates a simple but intriguing composition. Of the several L'Homme Ideal flankers I have tested, this one finds the perfect balance for me. I'm very satisfied that I gave it a chance!

I highly recommend this if you want a less traditionally clean and masculine fragrance that feels appropriate in warm, but not hot, temperatures. Now why is this modern gem listed as "limited edition" by Guerlain? Certainly, it's popularity and quality warrants it a permanent addition to their catalogue.

With the new Habit Rouge Rouge Privé, I am pleasantly surprised, perhaps even more positively, and I start to wonder what is going on with me. The ideal platinum private man is once again better than the last little black dresses from Guerlain. Is it the menopause? Or are my masculine traits simply coming to the surface now, at the prime age for women? Do Sam Smith and Kim Petras have something to do with it?
I don't think so.
In the past, I have often dabbled with so-called men's fragrances, starting with the original Fahrenheit in the late 80s. Wow, that was genius. I couldn't get enough.
And since today, absolutely in line with trends, I no longer want to accept any gender separation, we should also drop the annoying "L'Homme." Marc Almond would be a good name. I'm digressing...
In fact, LHIPP is an undeniable relative of Cologne, but in the advanced version. Right away, I can smell all sorts of notes that were not present or not noticeably found in the Cologne. I also have a ginger-like, sweet-spicy freshness in my nose the whole time, but I think that’s just a sophisticated interplay of almond with the citrus and peppery notes.
The overall progression is classic.
In the top note, juicy, quite naturally citrusy grapefruit, after about 15 minutes increasingly green, slightly woody, and only after an hour or so does its origin come through again, the creamy almond, this time marinated in vetiver.
The longevity and sillage are better with HRRP; during yesterday's first test, I could only smell weak vetiver-almond after 3 hours, which then lingered on the skin for a long time.
Overall, a super nice variant for not too hot days; otherwise, it might be a bit too gourmand.

Four fragrance notes are listed. Grapefruit, almond, vetiver, and pepper. That's also what I can smell; other noses may peek behind the Guerlain curtain, but I do not. This is also what can be smelled consistently. Linearity is not a shortcoming when the result that can be smelled throughout is a beautiful one.

With this creation, Guerlain has achieved an incredibly elegant sour-fruity, refreshing summer fragrance.
The grapefruit in this scent is a superstar! Sour and slightly sweet, it comes across, but it feels damn elegant; this fragrance is not a sporty scent or a freshie, as the book says.
It is a refreshing, elegant fragrance that evokes high summer associations for me, but of course, this scent could also be used and shine in an office environment year-round.
Last summer, I wore L'Homme Idéal Eau de Toilette at 30 degrees plus X. With more sweetness, but still refreshing, I perceived the scent. Strangely, I could only later smell the leather very distinctly in "L'Homme Idéal (Eau de Toilette) | Guerlain." As if the fragrance were functional and would tone down the leather in summer. However, L'Homme Idéal Platine Privé is the better fragrance for hot days. It is a scent that generates the feeling of summer. Even at these low temperatures outside, summer associations come to mind when I spray the fragrance. For summer in the city, with blue jeans, light sneakers, and a white shirt, it is the perfect scent.
The Guerlain L'Homme Ideal DNA is always perceivable through the almond, but instead of a sweet scent that radiates warmth, here it is an almond packed in grapefruit that cools. The vetiver with the pepper provides the necessary balance that transforms this scent from a summer bath fragrance (like Afternoon Swim; this is by no means a derogatory comment, I find the AS from LV wonderful) into a fragrance whose wearer says: "Yes, it's hot, but I still dress stylishly and well!" Thus, over the white shirt, a gray linen shirt is added along with tortoiseshell sunglasses, so that our L'Homme Idéal Platine Privé is duly appreciated. The sillage playfully dances around the shirt, which is gently blown by the light wind.

On my skin, the fragrance lasts 4-6 hours. After 3 hours, it is close to the skin, as they say. However, it is also a fragrance that one could certainly reapply. The opening is so refreshing, as if one were biting into a cold grapefruit, that spraying it is a highlight every time.

Guerlain has achieved a masterpiece of simplicity here. Simple fragrance notes, simple composition, but so incredibly well done that one can only applaud.
