Un bijou exceptionnel

J’ai découvert ce parfum voilà une semaine . Le flacon , une merveille . Le parfum ( que je n’ai pas encore acheté 750€ ) un vrai coup de foudre . Fragrance avec une figue mêlée a la myrrhe , bois de santal . Au bout de 30 mn , la myrrhe mêlée au bois de santal est ce qui domine .
Parfum élégant , poudré , rare . Bien construit .
J’achète de nombreux parfum . Celui ci me fait rêver . L’échantillon dans ma table de nuit .
Je vais sûrement succomber .
Allez le découvrir . Une pièce d’exception .

A new star in the fragrance sky...

...and what do I have from it now? How long have I hoped to discover a "real," yes "proper" new Guerlain fragrance again. I almost gave up hope, had already blasphemously suspected that the modern Guerlain noses just can't do it anymore. But I was wrong, they can still do it - and how. But I will probably never be able to glimpse higher Guerlain dimensions more than with just a few drops for testing, so to speak, a look through the keyhole.

With Perle Impériale, Guerlain has once again created a fragrance that I simply want to call complete, yes perfect. Silky, flattering, shimmering like pearls, delicately powdery and yet never sweet or heavy, the scent floats over my skin. It may be that trained noses can recognize the fig, the sandalwood, or a soft leather. The longevity is also astonishing, because fundamentally this is a delicate fragrance despite all its elegance and expression. It whispers, but what it whispers is poetry, is harmony, is simply complete. I can only enjoy the result and have no reason to even attempt to unravel the formula.

Am I really sad that I can never truly call this fragrance my own? Almost, but I'd rather be happy that, thanks to Parfumo, I can at least enjoy my "eighth bay leaf." (Stolen from Reinhard Mey) So I remain quietly silent and once again describe happiness as being able to experience a new Guerlain fragrance.

Unfortunately awesome

I don't particularly like this expression, but it fits here. Even when this fragrance (then still called "Songe de la Reine") was available in a limited 1000ml Begüm Khan bee bottle for the wealthy, adorned with a glittering bee covered in Austrian crystals perched on a similar orchid (malicious tongues called it a cockroach), I fell in love with the priceless little water. However, I could only afford a quickly used sample back then, especially since the mini edition of the fragrance was sold out before one could say "Bring on the sugared figs in their own juice!"
But now there were a few more than 10 pieces, and so I was able to snag a 125 ml EdP bottle, this time disguised as a pearl-studded octopus. The price is almost affordable. Along with the bottle with a glass stopper, you also get a 30ml travel spray (also filled with that fragrance), so for under 800 euros, you can call 145 ml EdP your own. Wanting the same scent as a 1000-ml family pack in an even more pearl-studded outfit is a futile endeavor, as that too was sold out before it really hit the market. Even I haven't managed to see it live yet.
But why do I like the pearl scent so much?
It is so timeless. Just like pearls.
It lasts so well. It is elegant, unique (yes, okay, Songe de la Reine was available briefly, but only 12 pieces, and who is going to meet someone on the tram who smells like that? The chances are slim...) and wearable. I definitely smell hints of the 80s and 90s; I would call it a chypre, but it may have too much of a gourmand touch for that.
The buttery soft leather note emerges after just seconds and quickly takes away a bit of the sweet, aromatic fig's green, fruity note, which I don't really like, and both complement each other excellently. Smoky, spicy hints come in, the scent glides towards the Orient but stays grounded.
Great multi-continental composition!
Wonderfully balanced, special, and finally a fragrance that does justice to the traditional house of Guerlain.
