A Modern Masterpiece: Vanilla-Tobacco-Aromatic-Spicy
Blue Vanille is simply Haute Parfumerie at its best and it is one of the greatest vanilla-based scents available on the market. It starts off with aromatic and spicy facets from geranium and cardamom. The perfume then transitions to vanilla (natural; not too sweet and not cloying at all), which is at the forefront for the remainder of the journey, complemented by sweet tobacco. The woody and musky characteristics stay in the background to support and round out the fragrance. The scent profile might be simple for some, but the perfume oil is beautifully blended and smells exquisite.

Blue Vanille is quite versatile and can be worn all year round. In my opinion, it is an office-friendly scent but is equally wearable in the evenings and at social gatherings. It sits rather close to skin, as most perfume oils do, but it lasts all day on me. Blue Vanille is a true masterpiece and one of my favorite perfumes of all-time. If I had to pick a signature scent, this would be it.

vanilla
short read: Blue V stand it's own in the world of vanilla scents

long read: opens up with vanilla, tobacco and some spices. Although the vanilla is stated in the base, it is present all throughout. Tobacco isn't a harsh one, it is a very mild and smooth one (given that it's natural I guess). The spices give it a warming effect, to my nose there are any aromatic notes in the classical way, it's just some warming to round it up given by the spices and the cardamom. You won't get a lot of geranium, it's there to give it a slight and discrete floral twist. Unisex.
It is pretty linear, after 1-2hours it loses some of it's (small to moderate) projection, but it can still be felt around. Vanilla and spices loose their power but tobacco remains. Blending is not the best from HJ, you can easily pick up on the notes..

Like all oils from HJ, do not apply on clothes and don't expect huge projection. It is an discrete affair. Projects a bit better in over 20C weather but doesn't open up more.

Also keep in mind that the spray variant (extract, Les Brumes series) looses the spices, it's mainly vanilla and tobacco. Some of HJ's oils are excellent for the spray implementation (Roi Sans Equipage comes to mind) but Blue Vanille is not one of them. The oil for BlueV is much better than the spray. For the spray imagine TF's Tob Vanille and think of a more innocent, pure and slightly airy variant. While TF is the mature, strong, in your face one, Blue V spray is lighter, more refined, obviously more natural (!!) less synthetic. So if you will try the spray, that will not be the complete experience. But at least the spray projects much better but the spices are less noticeable, they almost miss.

There isn't much to review about Blue V. And I am sure that my first paragraph will not convince anybody to try it.. but for a true vanilla/amber lover please please do not pass on this ! Get 1ml, 0.5ml, try it! It is such an unique experience in an already overcrowded vanillin synthetic market. With it you will truly experience what natural ingredients and carefully craftsmanship is all about - in a vanilla sort of way :) Trust me, the hype is TOTALLY worth it !

I have to admit I have the oil and the spray and I use them both. Oil on the wrists/neck and spray on the clothes .. .simply divine ...
