pencil shavings
Loved the sample, got a full bottle, and then started disliking it. Floral and peppery. I can absolutely see what people mean with the "pencil shavings" note. Not very sexy. I bought it New Years 2020 so that might be coloring my perceptions. I gave it a break and came back to it and started liking it more. Definitely feels colder weather for me, but again, could be my associations with when I got it.

Very strong and long lasting. One or two sprays is more than sufficient. Lasts for multiple eternities. Thou shall commit and not overspray!

Morphs into a strange, sad mess on my skin
Got a sample of this. The first spray really reminded me of Elizabeth Arden's Red Door, which is...fine. But as it mellows, something kind of unpleasant happens and it morphs into a strange, sad mess on my skin. I think some of this is due to the pink pepper. I really like pink pepper as a note; however, here it's sharp, medicinal, and combines oddly with the sweet rose and what I can only imagine is dirty patchouli. (Again--I like patchouli! It's just that it's not working for me at all here.)

Individually--I like these notes! But in this perfume, the combination does not work on my skin. It's a scrubber.

Casual yet luxurious
I respect Hermès, but most of their perfumes never really felt like me. This one is different. It’s modern, clean, and effortlessly elegant - like that perfect mix of simplicity and polish.

It gives off that Hermès casual vibe: minimal makeup, sleek ponytail, a crisp white t-shirt, perfectly tailored jeans. Simple, but every detail is right.

It’s the kind of scent that feels perfect for early fall - cozy enough for cool mornings but still bright in the afternoon sun. Just easy, balanced, and quietly confident. Works on anyone, any age.

sharp-witted
After the cheerful original Twilly, I was curious about the peppery variant.

But while the original presents itself with charming lightheartedness, the poivree has made sharp-wittedness its banner.

This is also proclaimed by the cover:
The sharp-witted spirit of a cheeky perfume with vibrant pink pepper, delicate rose, and seductive patchouli.

Unfortunately, I don't perceive the pepper note as "vibrant" but rather quite dry.
However, it thankfully doesn't scratch the nose.
Still, I feel like having a glass of water.

The rose softens the peppery aspect a bit, but the scent remains somehow "tingly," which may be cheeky - but makes me nervous.
Even the patch can't calm the excited fragrance.

I much prefer the nonchalant original Twilly.

Or the gentle Aura by Loewe - which eventually ended up in my bag.

My motto: Better subtle - than sharp-witted.

Granddaughter of Opium
Oh, Twilly has a new one! The color of the contents pleases my eye more than that of the original fragrance. Cheeky pink instead of soft orange. Took the scent off the shelf and sprayed it on. I like it better on my skin than on the test strip. That doesn’t happen often.
Arriving home and still surrounded by a light cloud. Comfort factor check.
And suddenly the fragrance evokes something in me, oh dearest grandma, is that you?
No, not as you might think. Twilly Poivree is by no means a scent for old ladies (maybe, but not only ;) ). Rather, it reminds me of my grandma in her younger years, which I can only imagine from stories and photos. Just as she existed in my mind:

A cheeky young woman, natural red hair, butterfly glasses, brown dress with white dots. Always well-dressed, always cheerful and full of energy, like the pink pepper that makes its presence known first during the fragrance development and is unmistakable.

She knew what she wanted. Confident and composed. Always driven by courage, risk, and strength. She pursued her goals passionately and with heart. The young rose as a symbol of passion in the heart note gives the fragrance a passionate direction, making it seductive and warm.

Her freckles and her gap-toothed smile made people recognize her. Her cheeky, distinctive nature remained in memory. Most likely, people overlooked her bold demeanor, as she had so much charm that everything was interpreted positively. Patchouli in the base note gives the fragrance a certain stubbornness. Admittedly - it is intense and not for everyone. But in combination with pink pepper and rose, it appears unusually harmonious and almost gentle. Just enough that one must like it - at least in this combination.

Why I suddenly thought of my grandma during a close scent examination is now clear to me. Twilly Eau Poivree perfectly represents how I imagined my grandma in her youthful years. And perhaps it is the interplay of pepper and patchouli that evokes an association with Opium by Yves Saint Laurent (1977) in me. She always wore that scent. Whether she wore perfume in her youth, I doubt, but Eau Poivree would surely have pleased her.

I would have loved to show her Twilly Eau Poivree, which unfortunately is no longer possible. Perhaps it is now my task as a granddaughter to wear Twilly Eau Poivree with dedication, passion, and pride, while always remembering her a little. Just as Twilly Eau Poivree reminds of a seemingly granddaughter of Opium.

My grandma - a powerhouse. Hermes Twilly Eau Poivree - a spirited fragrance with recognition value!

PS. I explain my previously mediocre satisfaction with this fragrance by saying that it doesn’t suit all skin types. For some, it really doesn’t develop as beautifully. So testing is worthwhile; perhaps it will choose several potential wearers for itself. :)

It’s fine, not great, and not a true mass appealing fragrance.

The peppery touch gives a more interesting character to this flanker in comparison with the classic Twilly. However the sillage is very light

All I smell is an ugly woody amber. Go for the original or Tutti.

Wow, what is this? A creamy-fruity rose with a delicate leather & pepper nuance! This is exactly how I hoped Galop would be. Surprisingly good!

The better Twilly - rose petals under pepper thorns on fresh potting soil. Pleasantly spiced and nicely rounded.

While the original Twilly with tuberose and ginger notes was very successful, this one is a bit dull-rosy. What remains is the great bottle.

I miss the ginger ...
it made the Twilly so likable for me.
Synthetic-rosy wood bomb &
not creamy at all.
Then it gets softer :)

You can definitely dress up with a scarf and hat, young lady. We can all smell that you’re a bit of a prickly one. Sharp, bitter synth.

Youthful, cheeky-elegant, soft tuberose. Sweet-fruity, slightly powdery, slightly green. Plus, a subtle touch: musk soap & a light woody amber base.
