Unique aquatic
I was not expecting this to be so dark. I suppose the word Storm in the name should have prepared me but I'm so used to aquatics smelling a certain way.. clean refreshing lots of calone etc. NOT THIS ONE. This is not a cool brisk day of sailing or even a moody walk on the beach. Other perfumes accomplish that.

Every Storm a Serenade is a frightening dark tempest. There is loads of vetiver and ambergris here, making you feel like you are about to be pulled under the waves into a watery grave.

The aquatic accord and tree notes waft in and out like you are bobbing on the surface gasping for bits of air.

Oh yeah, try this one if you're into perfume as an olfactory art experience. Because this ain't your classic office appropriate aquatic. No, this one will have you screaming "Master, Master we are perishing!" (Luke 8:24)

Leaving the forest for the coast line on a warm Spring day
This is my first experience with Imaginary Authors, but what a pleasant one it is!

Firstly, I have to say that I am a huge lover of green, aromatic green and fougere fragrances, so that is of course influencing my view of ESAS.

Every Storm a Serenade opens up with a pleasant whiff of the (Danish) spruce, vetiver and eucalyptus that gives a really warm and pleasant sensation. It's woody, dark and rich with a liquorice quality to it (probably from the vetiver and eucalyptus). In the background you can pick up the sea water note slightly that gives ESAS that feel of you being in a woody beach on the West coast of Denmark. However, this is very subtle and in the back, and I don't pick up on the calone or ambergris/ambroxan at all.

If you own Encre Noir by Lalique, you will quite possibly get the similarities with that and this one. The difference is that if Encre Noir is in the middle of a dark, damp, green and wooden forest, then Every Storm a Serenade is you leaving that forest and entering a coast line on either a warm Spring or Fall day. Being from Denmark myself, I can feel that mood that Imaginary Authors are trying to portray here.

The silage is not massive, so you will not bother anyone with this one, but will still be able to pick it up yourself. Longevity is on the average side with it lasting around the 6-7 hour mark. Silage and projection will most likely the stronger, the warmer the weather.

It's not the best office scent, but you would be able to wear it here too. However, I'd find it best suited for a day spend outside in the warmer side of Spring and Fall or on a cooler day of Summer. It most likely won't do well in the midst of Summer or the dead of Winter.

If you love vetiver, green or aromatic fragrances, or want a different take on Encre Noir, then definitely check out Every Storm a Serenade.

Cold, Humid, and Moody
For some reason this instantly made me think of the summer camp in the woods I attended in Indiana throughout my childhood - a very happy memory. I can’t quite place what’s bringing me back there. It’s green but in a “deep in the piney woods” kind of way, not in a “crushing green leaves” way. I’m also definitely getting “sea breeze” but it opens very pine-y.

The pine-y notes step back to reveal the aquatics. I love calone. I know calone has many haters but I am not one of them. I'm a 90's girlie till I die. I don't get the usual melon notes that you get with calone, though. This smells less like the ocean itself and more like you're on the brink of a storm near the sea when the air is really humid and damp. It also has a faint vinyl smell - oddly enough I'm not mad at it? I have noticed this vinyl smell in a few other IA fragrances, too.

The performance is pretty mid. I have to respray often as it fades quickly. This is my biggest gripe but some fragrances just don't have good longevity.

I have the travel size and I would have gotten the full bottle if finances permitted it because I low key hate Imaginary Authors travel bottles and I think their full bottles are nice looking. This is a unique green aquatic and definitely not blind buy friendly as this has a lot of vetiver, calone, and eucalyptus which are often polarizing.

Pleasant aquatic with a strong cypress note
Minty aquatic. Very very subtle and lovely. At first an even split between the mint and aquatic notes, but later on the mint disappears. Much later, a bitter smoky woody note appears. I like this one a lot; aquatics often smell like rotting seafood on me, but this one smells fresh and airy. It smells like a forest during a storm, a lot like the story that accompanies it.

Decidedly masculine
Imaginary Authors presents its collection as genderless, which I think can be said for some of its fragrances, but not this one. It's not offensive, but it's way too masculine and isn't "me." I also wish it were more ... distinct? I love the idea of a coastal forest stroll, but this isn't quite it. It's a muddle that mostly comes off as ... cologne. I gave the sample to my partner to try, and I'll report back when he's had a chance to wear it.

If you like Encre Noire, and fresh scents, you'll love this. If you hate Encre Noire or earthy scents, this scent is a waste of time.

Wild coniferous forest somewhere in Scandinavia. Coastline is near. Put on a jacket, go for a walk, enjoy the views and the smells!

A nice melony, airy aquatic, nothing special but its pleasant, won't offend but doubt it will excite any collector very much.

Someone recommended this while I was searching for something reminiscent of Acadia National Park in Maine... Sweet, sultry, coastal forest. I love it!

It gives dentist's office, I could will myself into getting the whole misty, by the lake, scandinavian woods, but only at dry-down.

Sweet & damp smelling aquatic. A bit mouldy but the vetiver mitigates it somewhat

Very similar to Encre Noire Sport, but much aquatic. Comfortable and easy to wear. However, I haven't found a justification for this price.

A slightly challenging spicy-green aquatic Mid season fragrance, on a solid earthy-woody base. Nice take on dirty Vetiver. Male-oriented...
