Lush and Inviting Jasmine
Upon its delivery to my home, I donned the new Ineke POET'S JASMINE before embarking to the library, and upon my arrival I found myself mumbling to myself, "Wow, what smells so good?" And then I realized: it was me! (-: I think that walking outside in the heat really increased the sillage, but I honestly did not notice until I had entered a closed space.

This composition is ultra-feminine, with lots of somewhat indolic jasmine, but it has been jazzed up with a bright citrusy opening and a very appealing hinoki wood note, among others. The overall effect, by the drydown, is a jasmine both slightly green and slightly sweet in turns. I like this a lot, in fact more than some of the other jasmine quasi-soliflores which I've worn of late, including Floris NIGHT-SCENTED JASMINE and Badgley Mischka FLEURS DE NUIT. Don't get me wrong: I actually like those two, but Ineke POET'S JASMINE is somehow more lush and inviting--and super-feminine. Highly recommended to jasmine lovers!

Jasmine not just for poets, but even for jasmine haters!
Actually, I have no idea why I tested Poet's Jasmine by Ineke, as I consider the jasmine flower to be one of the most overrated and terrible flowers/scents. It just doesn't resonate with my nose at all. But maybe that's exactly why, to give jasmine another chance and to test whether it’s really just the jasmine that repulses me in some jasmine perfumes or the interplay with the other notes there. Or maybe just to be the first commentator again ;-) And look: I really like Poet's Jasmine as my first jasmine perfume, as it clearly focuses on gentleness.

It starts with citrus notes, anise, and a hint of absinthe. The latter is hardly perceptible, but definitely present. Then the main theme and heart come into play: jasmine, sweetened by cardamom and slightly smoky, almost ghostly veiled by hints of incense. Wow, no perfume has brought jasmine closer to me in such a nice and flattering way. It stays like this for several hours until it transitions into a woody, pleasant base and ends. If it were a river cruise, it would be so calm, nature-connected, sweet, and dreamy that one could almost fall asleep (in a positive way), feeling so comfortable. The jasmine lives up to its reputation as a night flower, and I find the scent reminiscent of a full moon night at 25 degrees.

The Ineke bottles look great in the pictures, and the longevity is around 6-7 hours. This jasmine could have lingered a bit longer. The sillage, on the other hand, is strong, and the scent has a dreamy character, but a dream that one remembers fondly and that has made a lasting impression.

Thanks to the vigorous support from cardamom and co. and thoughtful dosing, my favorite jasmine perfume!

The absinthe gives the jasmine a buzz, it no longer dares to be sassy and finds calm at the wooden bar.

After a lovely entrance of star anise and herbs, a delicate jasmine with citrus notes lingers on warm wood. Angel feather!

The jasmine note is enchanting, but it fades quickly for me, leaving a very sweet blend that reminds me of apple compote.

Jasmine for Dummies - it makes it easy for everyone. Citrusy-spicy-smoky-woody interpreted, yet delicate and light.

Very beautiful juicy jasmine. Fresh and lovely. For me, the best in the collection. Good longevity, the sillage could be more intense. A must-have!

Gentle jasmine, starts with absinthe and citrus. From soft to spicy. Initially fresh - later softer, floral, spicy. Fades quickly.

A fine, noble jasmine scent. Not as floral as others. It's feminine + pleasant to wear. Thanks to the spices + woods, it's wearable all day.

Light minty absinthe on the bench under the delicate jasmine inspires the poet's spirit and pen. Unfortunately, they are not my muses.
