the fresh, wild song of spring and its quiet serenity
Over the past few days, I've gotten to test out a few green and woodsy scents. Idyllwild was an addition.... about which it was not really at all.
Has captured me wonderfully and completely unstressed conquered with its quiet serenity.
The fragrance opens with fresh greens of spring and early summer: grapefruit and rhubarb are intercepted by lavender and led towards the forest. The is bright and inviting, in my imagination a mixed forest flooded with light, stretching towards the sun, as if freshly awakened. The scent is light, but not fleeting, and certainly not inconsequential.
The individual trees and woods I can not differentiated smell out, but they seem alert, friendly, facing. I enjoy the walk, the happy bustle and buzzing of the forest dwellers.... letting each other be. There's something meditative about the scent without being dreamy, something grounding without being dark, something protective without being sweet or heavy, something spicy without being kitcheny. Another reviewer here named a "fruity earthiness" - I think there is something to that.
In some description of the fragrance components, I also read that somewhere in the base, besides musk (not particularly strongly represented), sequoia is found. That then seems to be the moment that I particularly enjoy, and that earns me the feedback that I smell like bark. Reason enough .... to want it.... absolutely.
The scent has its very own forest magic - I don't experience it as mystical as some resinous, patchouli or incense-infused forest scents (I don't know many yet, but some scent descriptions here suggest that it's dark and earthy at times).... and yet it conveys its very own magic to me. It gives a certain clarity, calmness - and lifts the spirits. The forest is healthy, sprinkles me with needles and leaves in a good mood.... encourages me to take a barefoot walk.
That's where I want to be.
"In all the trees and all the waters and all the green bushes it lives, it chirps and rustles and hums and sings and splashes, everywhere resounds the fresh, wild song of spring." (from: Ronja Räubertochter, Astrid Lindgren)
------------
According to INeKE's description, the fragrance is a tribute to the natural wonders of California, named after a small mountain town (with a beautiful name). The woodsy components of the perfume are meant to capture the olfactory impressions of a road trip through the surrounding nature that started from there.
A tangy-spicy fragrance. M.E. because of its light freshness absolutely unisex. Wonderful in the warmer season.
------------
With all dearest thanks to robin for the fragrance experience (I schnurzel here with the last sample drops around, while I long for the ordered bottle)!
