Vacation on a Tropical Beach

I have loved the original "L'Eau d'Issey" since it was launched, both the women's version and "L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme." Twenty years ago, I had one of the summer flankers that I also liked very much. That's why I was very excited to sniff this summer version and bought it online as a blind purchase at a good price.

I was not disappointed! The top note is a beautiful neroli blossom, which does not become sharp on my skin at all. Soon, I can smell the frangipani, which lifts my spirits and reminds me of very expensive sunscreen on a tropical beach. The light rose gives it an elegant touch nonetheless. The aquatic components are only very subtle. I love this scent when it's hot and I don't feel like wearing one of my citrus summer fragrances (mainly Chanel "Cristalle Eau Verte" and Issey Miyake "A Scent").

The longevity and sillage are moderate. On a long office day, I usually need to reapply. I have a 100 ml bottle, and at the affordable price, it's no problem to fill a travel spray and reapply on the go. The only thing I would wish for is that the aquatic note comes out a bit stronger.

The scent reminds me a lot of "Tahitian Holiday" by Avon, but smells a bit lighter, a little less like coconut, and a bit more elegant.

Who stole the coconut?

Well, who still remembers this song...? I had to sing it in the children's choir back in the day - but that's another topic :) In any case, I must confess that I have a weakness for coconut notes in perfumes. I also enjoy them when they are a bit artificial and as a mono-fragrance (looking at you, Yves Rocher...). Now, I mistakenly assumed that this fragrance would have coconut in it as well. However - anyone who enjoys cooking Asian cuisine knows: coconut milk has a rather subtle scent of its own. So, one could have known. That said, the fragrance pyramid sounded lovely and the price for the 100 ml was very affordable, so I ordered the bottle.

The opening is floral-aquatic, very light. Yes, quite nice. I perceive frangipani most distinctly and a bit of orange blossom. I sense a tiny hint of aquatic notes more than I actually smell them. Unfortunately, not much else happens, and after three hours, the scent has completely vanished from my skin (I did not test it on clothing or hair). So, if you want to enjoy it for longer, you'll probably have to reapply. But given the price, that's not a big deal. Conclusion: a nice freshie for hot days that has nothing to do with coconut and is quite weak. Personally, I find it a bit unremarkable.
