Aqua Sextius Jul et Mad 2014

Fresh marine aquatic with a melange of fizzy citruses (slight grapefruit lean), green eucalyptus and mint offer an uplifting radiance, plus a touch of fruity fig. Somewhere between "mint chewing gum" and "chlorinated swimming pool" in a sort of cleaned-up, idealized fantasy way. Woods and oakmoss hold down the base. Moderately soft projection for 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr.

This fragrance may have that characteristic opening where lemon, orange and grapefruit are most prominent notes..but everything that you smell after 5-10minutes is pure magic! I was instantly hooked!
Fresh bouquet of white flowers mixed with mint and salty marine notes with ambergris, eucalyptus and fig. It also got that musky oakmossy touch to it with cedar and guaiac wood. There are also labdanum and mimosa listed in official notes.

I like this fragrance because it reminds me of my summer days, salty sea breeze, fresh lemon trees and sunkissed face+paddle/surf board combo..just amazing!

Really interesting freshie that combines aquatic, citrus, and aromatic (mint) notes with a foresty balsamic depth. It's like a fresher version of *Albho- by the same perfumer. It's not for everyone; the aquatic note is a bit harsh and the resinous base keeps it in that kind of sour area. Woods and musk in the base to round it out. I think it would have benefited from some sweet/fruity notes to balance the aquatics/resins, fig is listed in the notes but is not noticeable. Not bad but there are much better aquatic scents with depth out there.

Mmmm Aqua Sextius. A squirt of citrus juice drips down your chin. Chlorinated waters surround you as you slowly drift across rippling sunbeams and wavering ribbons of light. A fruit platter, freshly prepared pool-side, floats beside you on a buoyant tray. You feel slightly drunk from your third cocktail of the day and hazy from all the vitamin D. A gentle warm breeze blows, carrying with it the faint mentholated aroma of tropical vegetation…This is quite the summer resort fragrance. I’m more of a beach cottage girl myself, and unfortunately this is somehow just too potent for me. But if you’re into tropical getaways, you might love it.

Personal: 7/10 - It's not bad but I find it uninteresting.
Mass appeal: 8/10 - It's a good daily fragrance but some may find the sweetness offputting
Performance: 7/10 - It lasts a bit longer than other freshies, but not quite a whole workday.
Value: 4/10 Unnecessarily expensive for a generic smelling freshie.
Uniqueness: 3/10 - It feels ununique. Similar to Le Male Lover. Creamy fresh lotion.
SCORE: 58/100

Full bottle buy? NO, does what Le Male Lover does but for more money.
Blind buy? YES, it's a fairly safe sweet freshie, but it's expensive.
Recommend? NO, particularly generic for the price.
Date night? YES, bright and fresh but sweetness may evolve weird on certain skins.
Office safe? NO, it's mostly fresh but the creamy sweetness could definitely be cloying.

Pros: Wonderful fresh lotion scent. Fresh and bright. Performs pretty well.
Cons: Expensive. Not entirely unique, kind of generic. Not memorable.

This is a sweet, creamy, but fresh fragrance. I don't enjoy the lotion-ey overtones that are present and I think if it focused more on citruses, musk and woods it would have been better. Maybe the fig plays in kind of weird, but the sweetness layers and evolves in a kind of weird and definitely a kinda offputting way. I don't think I'd really reach for this fragrance, but it's not bad by any means, so it's hard for me to rate it lower.

It's not bad but it's not amazing. Yawn.
